I'm still waiting on my small orders of Blue Jay and heuchie Sweet Tart from Inthecountry and of Cameo and heuchie Ginger Snap from Casita Azul. Wah! I want my plants! There is no forecast of any frost for the next 2 weeks here in Queens, so I went ahead and did some tension-relieving buying annuals and planting them Friday before the Sabbath (yay, it starts much later now with going back to regular time!). I planted a beautiful coleus with burgundy, yellow and green with a bright yellow tuberous begonia (4/$10 annuals sale at Home Depot!) and a light purple calibrachoa in the blizzard white pot that is the background for the wire Garden Cat. I planted the remaining coleus plants along the border of the Neighbor's Plot, alternating with mixed pink/purple/yellow petunias and mixed pastel alyssum. I put in a couple 6-packs of fuschia, yellow, and lavender mini snapdragons in my main garden. Finally, I planted the sedum Angelina in the pockets of my big glazed strawberry pot and a nice purple-flowering Delosperma cooperii in the top of it. It's an experiment. I never put succulents in my strawberry pot before. Are they perennial? I saw today that the Darned Squirrels dug out 2 of my mini-snaps, they were laying out on the ground! Due to the restrictions of the Sabbath, I could not instantly replant them. I will do so on Sunday. We are supposed to get some overnight showers which will hopefully sustain the mini-snaps until I can replant them. And I PUT red pepper flakes, which nearly blinded ME, all around that garden when I planted stuff Friday. Argh!

I'd like to know how the realtors figured out how to write this up. A home that is ugly is usually listed as needing "tlc" or we use the word "potential", but really, what can one say about this? This is the largest collection of ugly I have ever seen. One almost had to work hard at it to make everything come out so awful. I noticed that the sink in the red bathroom and the 2nd floor ballroom floor were not so bad, but seriously, everything else was! The tiger/woman picture was nightmare inducing. I had always wanted a fireplace in my bedroom, but now I am cured of that thought thanks to these poor examples. I don't know if I would laugh or cry if that were my house. One would need a huge sense of humor to get through the day....

Mkpearse, hope you love yours as much as I love mine :) Digger, Moonlight Sonata definitely caught my attention at Hallson's! I liked the smooth sheen to the green leaf, didn't even know it was a blue until I looked it up. Kind of reminds me of Lakeside Old Smokey (also new this year) only darker with a less rippled margin. Sandy, that's why I picked up Enterprise! It was sitting in Chris's potting area and looked so very nice. I already have Vulcan and have wanted to see how they compare. Snake Eyes does have some lovely color; that one wasn't on any of my hosta lists. Gary, I've seen quite a few pics of Sunshine Glory on here, and every one has been eye catching. It has been on my definite buy list for a few months.

Let's try this again, first time I tried it all disappeared when I pressed 'submit'.. I've been rather remiss at posting, primarily because I haven't spent a lot of time at the computer, but I'll add a couple to this thread. First I have 'Hands Up' which is in it's 4th year, and I just noticed today that's it's breaking ground already. Next up is 'Queen of the Seas' which is a new acquisition for me and will have to be re-sited for better exposure. Then there's 'Regal Splendor', it's been in the garden since 2012 and a reliable grower. It's been divided at least once and I notice last year some things that looked as if this plant was sporting. Not terribly obvious in this shot but you may notice a leaf just off center with a considerably wider margin and the shoots at the edge of the pot have much narrower leaves, you'll see that better in the next shot. This shot shows the narrower leaves and the shoot virtually dead center has a petiole with a margin, that's the leaf with the wider margin. So, there'll be 2 things I'll be keeping an eye on with this one when it's growing out this year. There were several shoots with narrow leaves and if those return I'll have a good sized division to take off and see next year if it is stable. Stay tuned! Pieter
