Urlee, Do you have eye candy 3.1? I used the weave in that. See if it works for you.

The clematis blues
Q
Comments (37)
No, you plant the clematis in a container first, grow it on for a year or two, or at least a season, then plant it out in the garden (OUT of the container) after that. The purpose of growing the plant on in a container at first is so that it can get adequate moisture, fertilizer, TLC from you while in the container, put on some good root mass, before it goes out into the garden to fend for itself. Clematis just establish MUCH better when they are good sized plants when planted out in the garden, 2-5 gallon size, rather than the 2-4" pots in which you often buy clematis. I will commonly even take a 1 gallon clematis in spring, put it in a 2-3 gallon container with some osmocote, and grow it like that till fall, then plant it out in October (I have found that clematis do very well with fall planting). That is not to say it is impossible to directly plant out a tiny clematis. but for me the up-potting method works very well. And often I haven't decided where the plant is going yet anyway, so it buys some time. It lets you look at its bloom characteristics a little before you give it a home. One other recommendation, plant the crown 3-4" deeper than the soil level every time you plant the plant. So a 4" pot gets planted in a bigger pot 3-4" below the soil level, and again bury the crown 3-4" when you plant it out.

Struggles growing Lulo/Naranjilla (solanum quitoense)
Q
Comments (14)
I tried growing Naranjilla in 2012 in a flat in Hungary. The temperature in the flat varies between 72 and 84 degF depending the season. For some reason my plant kept growing upwards and it was foreseeable that it would hit the ceiling at the height of 8,6 ft. At some point I decided to air layer the main stem to make the plant shorter. At first, I thought that the stem of Naranjilla would develop roots even without a wound on it, just like the stem of a tomato plant. That assumption costed me a month wasted. My second attempt, when I made a wound on 2/3 of the circumference of the stem was successful. The plant had about a month of time for new root development. After cutting the stem below the ball with the roots, the shortened plant looked real bad for a month. The leaves were so saggy that I thought the plant was going to die. I think I should have given more time for the new root development before cutting off the top of the plant. Eventually the shortened plant recovered and continued to grow. To my disappointment the plant grew upwards so fast that the prepararion for the next air layering was due in a short time. I found this to be ridiculous, and did not wish to carry on. My plant kept blossoming for months, but it was unable to set fruit no matter what. I found out that Naranjillas are pollinated by humblebees in their natural habitat. The humblebees vibrate the blossoms for a short time and that helps release the pollen inside the blossom. I made a small device for vibrating the blossoms to no avail. Some time later I got fed up with the situation and discarded the plant.

A. Arabicum and Pachy Inopinatum Flowering, but...
Q
Comments (3)
My P. inopinatums seem to do their own thing in mysterious ways, at least mysterious to me. I had been growing them in various places in the house, but finished my greenhouse a couple of weeks ago so I'll see if they become more predictable. That said, I think the weather change MIGHT have a slowing effect on the process. The Adenium should be more predictable as long as the lows stay 55 or better. Remember that during the growing period the Adenium wants to be treated as a tropical and will take reg. watering.

Hi Teri,
I just now came here to post "My invention" of it.
Will have to look at 3.1?
I did this in PSP8.
Not too bad for inventing? I think I went to textures to get the weave "LOL".

Yikes, I forgot to resize it!

This is beautiful, ladies.

Question though. Using PSP 9, I can't find a heart in the preset shapes (everything else is in there).

Any ideas where I can get a heart?

Buzzard. I'm pretty sure I had to download my heart shape but I can't find where I got it from. Try this link and maybe you'll find it in there. I hope you can find it.

Here is my attempt. I could not find a heart shape, so I attempted to make one out of 2 ellipses and a triangle. Then for whatever reason, I could not get my eraser to work. So, consider this the homemade version among all the beautiful professional ones.

Buzzard that's great. Very creative of you to make your own heart.
I had trouble with the eraser part too. I think we all did well.

Buzzard, I didn't "have a heart" either, "lol" Sooooooo
I went to my GOOD OLE PSP7 to follow the path to!
And by golly, they now show up in my PSP8 Preset shapes.
A whole slug of them shapes to use.
