This is one of many rooms I'm in the middle of. The bookcases aren't fine tuned yet. I think I'm going to go with ttodd's Baby Turtle in here.

It's just an example of how you can split books and add accessories.

I think I actually got this little bookshelf from Target. I have a whole room of bookshelves upstairs to actually keep my books in.

Cooperbailey, Thank you for posting the white wicker chair with the cream/gold walls and the beautiful dark furniture your TV is on. Your picture has helped me make up my mind that the white is the right choice for my wicker bureau that will have colors in the room such as yours.

dbfire wife, thanks! My DD painted the picture of Bailey, which seemed to just fill out the large shelf space nicely. My walls are covered with her paintings.I want her to do one of both of them. but now she is in college and less time for painting.

lynn, thanks, actually the walls are Dancing Light- Valspar? from Lowes, which is goldgreenish and does change colors with the light. I do have mixed paint and wood furniture in my house.The bookshelf was pine until Saturday! and it fits the room so much better painted.The room is in progress. It is so much fun.
I have grown into a non- matchy matchy person. LOL Sue

LOL!!! No that wall color was RH Sea Green. Baby Turtle went up over that.

This was an old oak entertainment unit I used to have tapes and books and typical TV stuff. I decided to salvage it and give it a face lift & use it to fill in a bare wall as a back drop.

Great job!! It looks great!

I once saw an idea for glass front kitchen cabinets, but it would work for bookshelves, too. They used foamcoare and wrapped it in paper or fabric of choice and fitted it into the back wall of each shelf. It would be a good way to change the look of any set of shelves.

There really is an art to this isn't there! I just feel like mine never looks quite right. I do notice how many books teacats has on hers...I definitely need some more! ;c) Love everyone's shelves!

Cooperbailey, Thanks for letting me know the color of your paint. My white wicker dresser arrived last week and I just love it with my cherry bookshelves. I am glad I chose white and your picture helped me. Thank you! Now I am giving my friend my big 21" high speaker stereo and buying a shelf unit to make the room look nicer. It will still have the stepper in it so it will never be beautiful but I am make it nicer. I will post pictures when it is done. I am starting to enjoy eclectic and not all matching also.
