grandms, I have no knowledge about your e-filing form (I am in the U.K.) but I presume that it would be in "standard" pdf format. I use the excellent, free and full featured PDF-XChange Viewer to work with and print pdfs because I absolutely refuse to have the intrusive and bloated Adobe Reader on my system. Welcome to our decorating forum here, Sharon! I'm also in NM. We have an all-adobe home with the majority of our interior walls being exposed adobe, sealed and then painted. The color we're using throughout is Valspar's Mount Rainier in their eggshell finish, purchased at Home Depot. In the can it looks like a very light brown but on the walls, trust me, it's a warm cream. We have a lot of large windows, window walls and skylights and this color looks equally good, throughout the day and evening. Even in the few rooms here without much natural light, it still is not too dark or light. Like you, we also have a lot of artwork and it works well with everything. It also works well with the cream background in Talavara tiles, which we have in different patterns in all 3 of our bathrooms as well as on the counter of our dining room's built-in hutch. Finding a color of cream that would work with them was a big problem when we originally had this place built 20 years ago, as so many creams can make Talavara tiles look awful. I also highly recommend going with an eggshell finish. It makes walls so much easier to clean up when needed. Our builder originally used a flat finish and I regretted it for years until we could repaint in the eggshell. Here are a few pics to give you an idea of the color. IdaClaire - I also worried about the weight of a down comforter until I finally bought one - well due to DH's allergies I bought an alternative down, but it is basically the same weight. The comforter itself is very lightweight and I was amazed at how cozy and warm my little nest became. It is significantly lighter than the matelasse coverlet that I use in the summer. I bought mine from the Company Store because you can order 'oversize' comforters and I like having the extra drop on the sides. You can order the weight (or warmth level) you want too. Since I'm in the north east I bought the medium warmth but they also sell lighter weight ones. But here's the tricky part - depending on what you use as a duvet cover you can make it significantly heavier. I made my own from king size Ralph Lauren sheets to match my bedding so they are still fairly light. However if you chose a heavier material you will notice it - especially when you remember that you're adding 2 more layers of fabric. I love the photos you posted - it reminds me of those times when my family drove cross country to New Mexico to visit our grandparents and cousins. 2 of my aunts had adobe homes and they truly enchanted me. If you could start over with your paint and do a darker or lighter floor with more red, grey or black in it, that would bee a great way to go. Since you don't plan to paint and i know the floors aren't going to change any time soon, work with what you have. You still have lots of options, and they may be ones you will like better over the long haul. While you have warmer, more golden tones in your home, it is still very neutral from what you've shown. Do you have other furniture for the adjoining rooms, chairs, pillows or other things you plan to be using -- in this room or adjoining rooms? If not, then you need to have an idea for other colors, feel, etc to set the tone. That sofa can go in a number of directions. Take a look there and see if you find inspiration -- and even better, look at a store to see how the colors look in person. Depending on the direction you want to take the room, I could see using about half of their rugs. Teagan in grey multi looks like it might be a warm grey or blend of beige and greys that could work and might be close to what you were imagining in color at least. If you did something like that rug, I'd look to warm metals (copper, brushed or aged brass) or a dark wood -- cherry, espresso or similar. When we first saw that sofa, they had it displayed with a round hammered coffee table. I've seen similar tables with a smaller one that nests underneath. A marble top with a wood or metal base (again, not a bright silver or brass -- maybe grey or an aged natural metal color). Nolan in the neutral color looks like it has beige and grey as well as some blue. It would at least compliment the blue if that is all grey -- and it would mix in the warmer tones you already have in the house. This one might bee my favorite of what I looked at last night. Similar ideas for coffee tables, but I could also see a mid tone wood with a bluestone or similar top. Right next to the Nolan on my screen is Channing -- a red background Persian style that would take the sofa in another direction -- more traditional, very warm. Overstock and erugs are other places to look, but sometimes starting with a fewer number can give you a direction without overwhelming you. You might also look for photos of living rooms with blue sofas and see if you can find a look with similar floor and wall colors that appeals to you and take a cue from that.
