Drapes: Where do you attach the brackets?
Comments (3)You typically attach them at the ends of the rod. Then, depending upon how long the rod is, and thus the weight, you may need additional supports in between the ends - one in the middle, or sometimes two equally spaced between the ends. Hard to say as it depends upon the size of your window. And you are right, without a traverse rod you can't open/close past a bracket. One thing you could do if you want to leave the brackets where they are would be get two more panels and place them inside the brackets so that you could close them and still have the panels on the outside of your current brackets making the window appear larger....See MoreHow Can I attach this Curtain Rod?
Comments (6)ahaaaaa..... You know, my brain wasn't even going in the "new hardware" direction - partly because spending more $$ is in the "Avoid Doing That" file - but I think the suggestions to get bigger rods is the way to go. I had already realized that extending the rods beyond the window frame was necessary, but maybe just getting another panel for each window (if they're still available) & larger rods will solve the problem. Thanks so much everyone - having extra sets of discerning eyes helps SO much!...See MoreHow do I hang curtains over vertical blinds that stick out?
Comments (25)This is an old thread which I happened to come across in a search to hide vertical blinds in a rental--in my case, over sliding doors. Check with the HOA if you live where there is one because some do not allow the slats to be taken down in order to preserve the symmetry on the outside, especially in "cookie cutter" neighborhoods. Verticals may be dated--but then so are the ideas of many HOA's-- and the fines are very real and can be quite steep. If you rent, you may be charged by the owners for any fees incurred for the violation of some very antiquated and weird rule. And there are some owners who do not want them removed for whatever reason, which can become a hassle when inspection time comes up before rent renewal....See MoreHELP! How do I hang curtains on a window that touches the wall
Comments (2)The second one might work if you have the bracket just out enough from the corner so that the end piece will be touching the wall. Curtains should be able to cover that much of the rod. Might have to "scrunch" the curtains over a little. If you use curtains with grommets, that would take care of the problem. How high are you putting your rod? I have sheers on all my windows and love the look....See Morepricklypearcactus
