RH's Silver Sage-would it work in my rooms?
Comments (18)Hi again Stinky. Here's a few thoughts. First, I am not loving the deep color on the wall opposite the stair walls. Will they stay white? If so, I think a softer color on the long wall would look more harmonious with the walls opposite. I also wonder if you have considered painting the sides (I think it's called the stringer) of the stairs? Not the treads...leave them wood. I am just feeling distracted by all those horizontals and verticals. (Sorry, I know you didn't ask...) As for the long hallway wall, I think a neutral gray would be up-to-date (don't want to use the T word) and will play nicely with the white on the opposite side. It keeps you out of the pastel scheme and adds sophistication to the pink, which I love, btw. I stuck with the HC colors since you seem to be drawn to them. Look at Litchfield Gray (my fave) and Elmira White, both on the cool side. Or Manchester Tan and Grant Beige, each a bit warmer. I would rather not see you go too tan/brown because that would move into the pink/brown combo which is kind of a cliche by now, though very pretty. For the room at the end of the hallway, a subtle green like Richmond Gray might be nice. (I love it with the QA Pink and the Litchfield Gray.) I can't really tell if that would work with the draperies though, and I don't know if you have your heart set on something else. But I think a subtle green really does nice things for red and yellow. Keep in mind that these are just "places to start." That back room may have lighting that calls for something clearer like Beacon Hill Damask. It's tough to know without being there. But, once you have a place to start, you can figure out what you don't like and tweak, step by step....See More? about RH silver sage & help finding curtains
Comments (3)I have silver sage and it reads blue most of the time, sometimes it reads green gray. I thing it is a beautiful color. The light silver which is the lighter shade and it kind of reads silver to me. I used it on my ceilings. I think it is a really nice color for a bedroom. To me it has a warm quality to it despite the fact that it is a "cool" color. From what i have heard it looks very different depending on the light. A woman used it in an area that there was a huge amount of natural light and she did not like it. If you go walk around in Restoration hardware you can get a feel for it because that is what is on their walls. It looks like a completely different color upstairs vs downstairs (providing it is a 2 story restoration hardware)....See MoreAny suggestion for color like RH silver sage but more vibrant?
Comments (1)Hard to pinpoint thru cyber world exactly what pitch of nuance vs. chroma you're wanting. But if we were in the same room we'd start by looking thru the Pratt & Lambert palette. There's a nice, robust selection of the blue/green/gray paint colors in that palette....See MoreRH silver sage + oak??
Comments (7)Thank you all for your opinions! I read over everyones responses and am so excited to get the paint and move forward! It has taken me over a month to decide on the colors - I had three other colors picked out and for some reason put off buying the paint when I made my "final" decision. Then I found sivler sage... thank goodness I didn't go with the other colors. So I am doing silver sage in the hall/kitchen/family room and RH Latte in the dining room/living room that is just off the kitchen. I do have a powder room just off the hallyway / kitchen area - do you think a lighter version of silver sage would be too much? thank again everyone! seeing the photos and hearing your expert opinions was a huge help in confiming my decision!...See MoreRelated Professionals
