I have a granite backsplash and we love it.
Several reasons, we can see if when we sit in
family room, as it is lit from under counter.
Normally only time you see granite is when you
are standing over it, we get to see it even as we
are "Kicking back".
We have seen many posts here , where ppl are trying
to find something that will "go with" or "complement"
their granite---I didn't hafta fight that battle!!!
The other thing is ease of cleaning, particularly behind
the cooktop.
Our old kitchen was tile and grout,seen nuff of that for me, anyway.

Your right, you will see it, our kitchen is visible from the front door, and unless you walk over and look down at the granite, you don't see how nice it compliments the cabinetry. I think I might like that visible glance.

Your backsplash is a full backsplash, very nice. I'm considering a standard granite backsplash. I'm sure a full granite with many outlet cuts would be more than I want to spend.

We haven't replaced the counter tops in the kitchen yet, but when we do it will be soapstone, but we have done the vanity in the bathroom. Our backsplash is nearly 6", at five and five eighths tall. We love that the stone seem to wrap up the wall, and give great coverage for that "man shaving, must shake things like a dog after a swim" effect!

That's exactly what I want to do in our kitchen at some point. We have a 6" temporary back splash (sealed/painted wood) now and I really like the height.

One thing that we took into consideration when we designed the kitchen, was to minimize the cutouts in the granite.
So the dimmers for the undercounter lights, as well as the dimmers for the overhead lights were all designed to be out of the granite surface. I even thought about putting the power outlets up under the cabinets but decided at our ages (Mid 60's) we didnt want to get into funny positions trying to plug things in ---Ya know what I mean?--so we just used dark brown receptacles with burn copper plates to complement the grantite.
We had to redo the granite around the cooktop here, cause "Genius" (Me), got a lil too creative with the cooktop---bought one that was a 36 inch semi circle and it turned out to be junque---even so, I was able to find a half sheet of the Arandis Gold Granite for $250 and it cost me about a grand to have it "Fabbed" and the new cooktop installed---so you might get lucky and find a half sheet.
Sure is a breeze to clean.
I love that bathroom backsplash. I am gonna do the same thing, maybe even higher and gonna use Onyx.

We want a "full" backsplash all the way up to cabinets but like you I can't find very many pictures of them. It seems subway tile is the new thing now. I still don't know what we will do but good luck. I know you can find 6 inch heigh pieces already cut for prefab slabs sometimes at a big yard and hope that they are a close enough match.

Here is my 4 inch backsplash -- kitchen is still in process, waiting for missing cabinet. We love the backsplash for its simplicity. It also made outlet placement easier. We have an old house and studs were not where you would expect them to be in many places. We also used a really good scrubbable paint on the wall. Behind the stove, I have a sheet of stainless, which I love for its ease of cleaning.

I have been thinking of putting in a 6" granite backsplash in my new kitchen. When I tell the granite sales people this, they look at me like I'm crazy. My old kitchen had full backsplash of 2x2 tiles. I'm tired of it and I think they become dated quickly. I also have a lot of outlets and did not want to make a bunch of holes in the granite.

I had typhoon bordeaux installed last month and chose to do a 4" granite backsplash. My main motivating factor was that I have one very long wall that was not plumb, and did not want to have to race out to find tile. I am very pleased with it and plan to just paint the area above, once I decide on a color and feel like dealing with contractors again (which may be awhile).

We thought about a full granite backsplash all the way to
the bottom of the uppers.
It looks so European. Beautiful.
But I did not have it in my budget. I decided to keep the
simple white tile.
