Levelor, Graber, Hunter Douglas all Equal?

I am looking at faux wood or composite and just wondering if one brand is better than the other or if they are pretty much equal.

Of course! lol Went to Home Depot and they guy tried to put in the specs on the window and his computer wouldn't let him. He even had me help him make sure he was entering everyting okay. He called Hunter Douglas and they weren't any help so he was frustrated. We entered Levelor and it was fine.
Weird.

After 10 years in the hot So CA desert sun, our faux wood blinds looked like new. Therefore, there have been installed at our new home. We do have two West facing windows where we hung solar shades because the sun was glaring on the TV and ruining our dinners in the dining area. Well, solar shades don't block the sun when it is big and round in the sky, so therefore, we installed more faux wood blinds inside the window box for extra protection. We now watch TV and eat with no hot sun.

budget blinds sells knock off hunter douglas blinds which hunter douglas owns. they send a person out that measures and installs for 99 dollars. the warranty includes 5 years, maybe 7 but offers a lifetime free replacement no questions asked for EACH blind. my guy showed me hanging options that saved me tons of money! example, using one blind over 3 windows in an area it looked fine to do! also, a side stack is "upgrade" for many patio doors. with his version of HD, it is less to side stack. i compared to On line, 3 day, costco of graber...this warranty is good and better than others. the product reflects and allows patented styles of HD. like luminette. i have a limits on colors it seems. so this line is enlightened style. Yelp reviews are awesome for budget blinds. basically, I am getting luminette and silhouette knock off blinds that tax installed 5200.00. This at the drapery store that sells hunter douglas is about 9800 with tax. my decorator told me that this drapery store was 30 less than j penny for her clients. My bottom line truth is that budget blinds offers a value that includes a person, a warranty and look for half the cost and is slightly less or more than doing the online measure yourself. hope this helps. lord knows i did the work to figure this out. fyi, 3 day has a bit pushy style but they seem to have a rollershade option that prices out well if you like their valance which to many looks better than cassette valance.

Yes and no. Some of those manufacturers source the metal materials from the same facilities so there is often cross over in the colors but where they differ is in the components of the blinds themselves. The head rails, tilt mechanics, cording, metal bottom rails, etc. are not identical between those brands. Hunter Douglas is definitely the superior brand over Levolor, Bali, and Graber. They offer a 7 year warranty on their cord and tilt mechanisms where most of the others are 3 years. We repair all 4 brands regularly and I wold recommend Hunter Douglas all day for better quality interior components. They are worth the extra money.

Each price was the ENTIRE cost for the motorized blind. When they go on sale, it’s usually 30-40% off the regular price. I was able to get 50% off because a few months prior I got a couple of rooms full of blinds and the woman who worked with me kindly took off another 10%. It was like $2400 for nine motorized blinds (including remote and installation). It doesn’t get much better than that as far as price goes. Go to Lowe’s and they will walk you through the entire process....and make sure to ask when they’re going on sale (which happens quite frequently).

In all honesty, I think Graber and Levelor are good solid companies. HD offers a lot of "options" and that makes them more expensive, along with their guarantee. My shop sells HD because of those options and also because they are not selling those in the Home Depot stores, and have finally decided to offer those to the smaller designer shops. That is good for me, I like all the options but for the DIY'ers they may be able to find what they need with Graber, and that's fine. The smaller decorating shops offer customer service, but not everyone needs it.

So, that being said, I'm sure you would be happy with the Graber if the HD store can show you exactly what you need for your situation. If you still need more options, visit your local HD dealer or smaller home dec store (shameless plug for local shopping!).

No need to apologize for plugging local shopping, sallymo.

We try to do most of our buying from the city we live in, too. Had a big problem with the HD or Lowes (can't remember which) sales staff who couldn't figure out the simplest things and acted like they couldn't care less.

I gave up and ordered online.

I've ordered twice now from Graber (Abby Window Coverings) and can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with their customer service. They even couriered larger samples to me, free.

I can order Abby blinds online through my Costco (in Canada)and am saving $100 this time compared to going through a dealer.

They also accept returns within 30 days.
