I painted my kitchen countertop today (pics)
Comments (38)Looking at it today I can see two spots that I messed up. The paint had started to dry when I noticed these spots..so I used the almost dry paintbrush (dumb I know) and swiped over the spots. Now you can see just where that was done. Overall, I think it looks nice. It was a cheap fix for what we wanted. And didn't take long to do. I left the sink in place and used painters tape around the edges to protect it. The Rust-Oleum paint was easy to use. No need for primers. I sanded the counters with fine sanding paper and wiped clean, then just rolled the paint on with a foam roller. The parts that were hard to get with the roller, I used a paint brush that is made to use for trim work. Here is a link to the paint I used.. Comments (14)cocomac20: In regards to the viking stuff... that hood was sent to me without the proper fitting filter inserts, and no railing to even place the inserts on. I tried and tried and tried to have the company fix the issue and send me new inserts. Eventually they did send some, but once again they weren't able to be installed due to there being no railing, and even if there was a railing they were the wrong size. At some point they just stopped responding to my requests. I had to have my lawyer draft a letterhead document threatening to sue them if they didn't fix the issue. Only after that they sent a tech out who measured the space and was able to install the proper items. The customer service is horrendous, especially considering how much I spent on their product. Also, the vent fan had an issue with a clicking sound on the vent top opening and hitting the side walls of the shaft (which I was told to place some weather stripping on to stop), but seriously why couldn't they have done that at the factory? Lastly, the time controller on it has just simply stopped operating, I didn't use it very often anyway since it was kind of confusing to begin with, but it's just one more item that makes me sour of their products. Thanks for the compliments on the video :)...See MoreFinsihed Creamy White and Soapstone Kitchen - Pics!
Comments (77)Sankaty Thanks for the compliment! I love my Deltana pulls. They have a nice flat finish that matches well with the latches and with the soapstone. I think a single pull will be fine on a 36" drawer. The dishwasher is to the right of the sink and, yes, it is panelled. It is a Miele Optima and ordered specifically for panelling. The panel was ordered along with the cabinets and slipped right on. Check with Kitchen Aid to determine if your model can take a custom panel. One reason why we chose the Miele is because of how the panel is flush with the rest of the cabinets. Some DW with panel kits stick out a little. They are not trully flush. I forget which brands but I think Kitchen Aid is one....See MoreCreamy White and Soapstone Finished Kitchen with Pics!
Comments (82)Did you also DIY the vault in your ceiling? If you hired someone would you share the approx cost in your area? I know, it's nosy. I have a vaulted FR, 8 ft ceilings everywhere else and for some reason they dropped the kitchen ceiling to 7 ft. That's the first thing I'd like to change but I'm scared to even think about the cost! Really inspiring job you two did. I'd be in there all the time if it were mine!...See Moremrsmarv
