... gone to Florida/Arizona for the winter??

Someone please tell them that they have internet-connected computers in the libraries, down there!

Don't tell me that they all died before the snow flew!

Not wanting to die in the winter and have the coffin stored in a shed at the cemetery to await spring burial, maybe?

From around here do you mean just Canadians--or all of us other nothern tier oldies? Some of us here in ND for various reasons are still here--mine is because my husband need Chemo/ and other medical stuff--and by the way the weather in AZ etc has not been that great this year.

Denninmi...I'm in the same place. I've got 4 trees in pots now, with no idea where they will eventually go. (one is an apple, as a matter of fact). (before you think I'm not even close, realize I've got 30+ figs in pots ranging from 2 gal up to 25 gal as well...not to mention the passionflowers and bamboos). I do have an autumn olive that I will likely remove, but its placement makes doing so a huge undertaking and I would have to do more than just cut it at ground level because I would want the planting space. I've not had much success grafting either. I had two that looked quite promising a couple years ago. They were too interesting looking to the squirrels or possums or something though as they were victims of something. After that I gave up. (I'll likely try again sooner or later though ~Chills oh, yeah...btw...the persimmon is leafing out well. The tops of the leaders were looking like they were dead, but slowly they are pushing their buds as well. Maybe I'll get fruit this year...time will tell

Funny you should mention that OA...I had cousins and close friends who went to Catholic School, tell me similar stories about the 'Strict/Nice' nuns. I remember being so nervous attending Catechism, not wanting to do anything that would get them angry. I don't know if your nuns would use a 'Frog Cricket', if you were doing something wrong. They would keep it in those deep pockets, and click it to get your attention, and with just one look, you would freeze. I must say, they did a splendid teaching job, and the education level was the best. (I remember my friends' homework and overloaded school bags they had to drag home each day)... Without their presence in many of the Catholic schools today, the Education standards have dropped (so I've heard). Seems there are too many 'new teachers' using the system to get experience then move on to the higher paying Public Schools. A few of my friends, who attended Catholic School, have seen 'Late Night Catechism' and have raved about it. They say there's lots to relate to, and it seems there's always 'One Nun' that each remembers, with some fond/or otherwise memory!

Zellwood sweet corn and rural Lake CountyÂs favorite zipper peas cooked in a traditional southern French style. We like to call our dishÂ. Bubba Meets Jacques 1 cup shelled zipper or creamer peas 3 ears white or yellow Zellwood corn 1 Tablespoon olive oil 1 Tablespoon butter 1 clove minced garlic 1/4 teaspoon (or more if youÂre like me!!) ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh basil Place zipper peas in steamer over boiling water. Cover and steam until tender. Remove from steamer and set aside. Bring large pot of water to boil. Cook corn for 3-4 minutes. Drain and cool until easy to handle. Cut kernels from cob with a sharp knife. Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium-high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 2 or 3 minutes. Add corn, peas, salt and pepper and cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes. Stir in the basil and serve hot. Serves 3. If you are southern you know what zipper peas are. If not, they are a yummy little pea with a big taste! "zipper peas", a commonly found field-pea here in the Southern U.S. Their color can range from a clean white, to deep red, dull green to flat black with thousands of mixtures and patterns of colors.

This is a decorator/design forum not an investing forum. As an investor wanting to sell the house quickly at a good price I'd say you've already put a lot of money into the kitchen with new appliances and cabinets so take the last step to finish the kitchen so that it helps potential buyers get over the hurdle from liking the house to putting in an offer. You want the house to appeal to many buyers. If they see something unfinished they may wonder where else you cut corners on the flip. Someone will always have a different personal opinion about design. A classic subway in a cloud white (not cream) would be fine and I'd guess you could find something like that at box stores for $1-2 per square foot. It would be best to put it up all the way to the base of the upper cabinets but even if you just ran it to bottom of the window sill it would finish the kitchen off and make the kitchen a showcase of the house.

I guess that I neglected to mention anothe possibility - that someone may have put duct tape over their mouths.

Oh - that's right, talking doesn't count ...

... then I guess that I was worried whether someone may have duct-taped their fingers!

Not an eventuality to be desired, I think.

I was getting to feel rather lonely, on here.

But then ... there's the KT.

By the way, though I don't know the tax laws in the U.S., in Canada I suggest that every senior should have a home-based business, especially if s/he's a renter. Gives one some nice tax deductions ... but be sure that you can document and justify them all, in case of audit.

Canadians can deduct the full amount of capital gain on their owner-occupied house ... but if they've claimed some deductions for tax relative to having the home-based business, it might jeopardize par of that esxemption.

LOL....did all your friends leave for warmer weather? I just visit here once in awhile but know you always give people a laugh.

I lived in cold states for a long time. Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Now I live in South Carolina where I still have seasons and cold weather. I love cold weather but not freezing below zero weather. I do enjoy the warmer weather too......helps older bones.
