Backsplash-Pressed Tin Help With Choice

I want to do something different for my backsplash. I am interested in pressed tin.

I found a couple of great websites and found one that sent me samples..for free!! The samples are 1 small square of a panel. They panels are 2'x4'. They are a faux finish.

Cabinets: Kemper Amaretto Creme=creamy color with a glaze.

Counter:Cambria Canterbury.

Floor: Tiger wood.

The white sample is a bit whiter then my cabinets, and has a faux finish that is a shiny copper color, which really picks up the copper specks in the counter.

The Mocha is a nice brown color and the faux finish is a wheat color that matches the lighter colors in the counter.

The blue green is not an option, but is pretty.

Although I LOVE the white sample, I think it may be too much white. I really think the Mocha will go better as it will add a bit of contrast to the kitchen, pick up the floor etc.

I wish I knew how to Photoshop the samples to the kitchen photo.

Help me! Please give me your opinion. And thanks to all who give great advice, this forum has really helped me!!

I really like the creamy white tiles. Pretty kitchen with lots of light. It's lovely.

The brown is too much.. Don't go with that. I am torn between the blue and white. The white is timeless, but the blue would just POP in your kitchen and look gorgeous. You can't go wrong with either of those, but I would steer away from the dark brown.

Would you share the site you found the Pressed Tin? It is so lovely. I am looking for something similar! Thank you! And beautiful kitchen!

I'd probbaly prefer to have something there at the desk -- if not the tin, maybe a fabric covered message board -- the kind with ribbons that can hold notes or photos. I like the phone out of the way, but I'd also like the look of puttin it down on the desk and having a message board across the entire area. Whatever you decide, you might just want to live with it for a bit and see how it works for you. It will be easy enough to do when you decide. The tin splash is a nice look and does compliment your sink. I considered tin for our kitchen, but it just didn't seem right here.

I used American Tin Ceiling company in my old condo. It's affordable and easy to do. I was a single, 20-something girl with no DIY experience whatsoever and it was fine. I simply purchased a pair of tin snips at a hardware store and cut the sheets to size using those. I trimmed it very slowly and carefully to get a nice tight fit. The wavy line in the picture on the left of the cabinets over the sink isn't the wall showing though, it's a wire for that undercabinet light. Then I used construction adhesive to adhere the sheets to the wall. I used a few nails/tacks at the corners cause I had a few that wanted to stick up. I ran a bead of clear caulk between the backsplash and the countertop - fortunately I had a tight fitting counter. I used the matching spray paint to paint the outlet covers as well. I also used the matching paint to paint a small strip ~1 inch of the wall above the counter. I was worried about having a gap and having white show through. Not sure if that was necessary. It is a nice, durable surface. I'd use again if I had another house with the style for it. Yours will look even better with your beautiful cabinets! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I was looking at this website about choosing a color scheme. According to this, my kitchen has a split complementary color scheme. My wall color is blue. The complement is orange. The split complementaries are yellow-orange (my cabinets) and red-orange (my Brazilian cherry floors). I also have a good dose of neutrals with my appliances and light fixtures and gray countertops. In addition, my walls are a grayed blue to tone down the blue, allowing the split complementaries to shine. My stone does not read as "green" as the previous picture of the Frank Lloyd Wright kitchen. I'm really not fond of the monochromatic color scheme currently popular. My kitchen is a lively place and the bold color scheme fits it well. I am confused as to why others feel the colors are fighting with one another? Regardless, finding a suitable backsplash is proving to be a challenge.

Fantastic customer service - Southern hospitality! - and well priced. Just call and they'll walk you through any questions you have. Made in USA. I love advice, thank you.

I am in love with the white, but I thought it would wash out the kitchen. I am no designer and always hear about contrast so I figured I would try to tie in my floor.

The blue is more of a blue green, like a copper patina, it is beautiful but I think it would clash as I have no blue in the kitchen.

Well, then, bring more blue into the kitchen with other accents and accessories, LOL. :) I really like the blue. I think the patina look is gorgeous.

With white cabinets and white BS, it might be a bit much, but since it's not solid white and has the antique accents, it may give enough of a contrast.

What if you use the white you love but bring in accent tiles of the blue? Then pick up a few blue accessories (including dish towels) to pull it all together.

BTW your kitchen looks great. I really like it.

I really like the blue too. The brown would be too dark for me (i had a dark BS before and it sucked all the light out of the kitchen)
The white would be great too if you want a safer choice.

I think the blue would force you to stay with a color that may be hard to coordinate. The whiter one would give you flexibility over time to change up the look without gutting the bs. I would go crazy with color for the accessories and leave the expensive parts to be done more simply. If your paint and/or accessories bring in color, no one is going to say you kept it safe.

I love both the blue/green and the white. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I'd probably go with the white because it gives you more decorating flexibility, like Dianalo said, but my husband hates to reno so I know whatever I pick needs to stand the test of time. Those are the prettiest tin tiles I have ever seen. I can't wait to see them installed.
