The Villages in Florida!

I have not been on here for over 6 months now. A few people are still writing me about "The Villages." I am glad to answer their questions. My husband has been real sick and cannot walk or help himself much. But, he is getting better everyday PTL. I have been busy. I now have some help so I can write again on the forum. He is 84 and I am 80 now.

We still live in the Villages and love it so much. When my husband gets well he may not be able to drive the car. But he will be able to drive the golf cart to shop.

As I told you all before, we can do all our shopping and medical needs....doctors and clinics and etc. with using our golf carts. Today I took our dog to the pet groomers on the golf cart. Then went to the bank and shopping at the super market.

Thank you so much. Things are really getting better for us. My husband just yesterday started to walk without his walker:-) I have had great faith and know that God will give him a little longer time with me and the family.
We are so glad we decided to move here in the villages. A retirement community is a God send when you are sick and growing old.

I went to ask.com a while back and put several things in the search. I remember putting "low taxes", "safe", and I don't remember what else but The Villages Florida came up in the TOP 10 and so did this web page with all yalls letters. I read with interest and found Betty to be the one I liked to read posts the most from when THIS forum's letters link was clicked, but there were 2 of yall that I thought were extremely rude when all she was trying to do is share her love of where she lived. Even through yalls harshness, she remained courteous. If you had taken a little time out to do a search on The Villages Florida, you would have found the web page that you can order a DVD or video and SEE what she is talking about. Next time, in lieu of "bashing" or "questioning motives or wondering if her family "owns the place" , do a little research. Get your own FREE copy of a DVD or video of The Villages by clicking into their main web page. http://www.thevillages.com/ and after you see the DVD, you'll wonder why MORE letters of "The Villages" praise wasn't made by her and others. They seem to have everything there, and ANYONE you talk to that moved there can't say enough good about it. Shame on all who were less than kind to Betty for simply trying to explain to yall that she found a wonderful place to live. Shame on yall for questioning why her husband could go to a gym but be on oxygen...like that is your business...and it had NOTHING to do with her enthusiasm about the Villages she was TRYING to share with you people, and no, I don't know Betty nor have I ever even so much as spoken to her. I read every one of yalls posts and believe me, the one I'd like to meet in person would be Betty. Personalities DO shine through on line...both good AND bad. Betty seems like a wonderful person. Thanks Betty for your great posts and info on The Villages. I live in Texas and am not even old enough to live at a retirement community yet, but I will certainly visit The Villages January 2007 and I hope to meet Betty.... and for the rude ones on here, no, I don't work at The Villages or have family that own it either. I'm just a person that's educated enough to do a simple Google search or ask.com search in lieu of trying to question the motive or intent of an obviously kind and sweet lady like Betty seems to be. We visited The Villages last December & had an absolute blast. As impressive as it looked in all of the literature, their website, in the YouTube videos, etc....you really HAVE to see it in person to get a true grasp of what it's really like. Wow, is all I need to say. The wife had found On Top of the World's website online & wanted to go see it, too...so on the way home thru Ocala we decided to check it out. Not Impressed at all. First of all, it's kind of isolated down a long road from the highway. There's a small shopping area outside of the gate, but at 10:30am on a wednesday morning it was virtually deserted, and I believe that way more than half of the storefronts were vacant. The only way to get inside the front gate is to schedule a tour with a sales rep......which we decided not to do after seeing the ghost town retail area. What we were able to see of the golf course & homes looked very nice & well maintained......but after just coming from the vibrant & alive atmosphere of The Villages, it just didn't appeal to us.

That reminds me of a hymn of long ago "I walk with God along the way and oh, it is a happy day" Congrats to hubby and I'm glad he is still with you too. He must feel wonderful about being able to get around again.

Thanks for writing. Our weather has been some cold last week. But today is beautiful...the sun is shining and the temperature outside is now at 11:15 am 72 degrees already. :-)
Everyday my husband is improving PTL.

My husband is not doing too well these days. He is taking so much medicine. Now they have him on Anti-biotics for ten days at a time starting at the first day of each month. He is still on oxygen and prednisone and so many other blood pressure and heart pills. He can walk 30-40 feet but then he has to sit down. He seemed like he was improving there for a while.

We are so happy to be living here in The Villages. Everything is right here. Where we live I could walk to most everything if I had to.

I'm sure you are surrounded by caring friends, at least I hope so.
Give hubby lots of hugs (not too tight) and continue your loving care. Our prayers are with him and you too.

To all,
My husband is in the hospital...has been now for a week. He does not have long to live. Our family were all together yesterday at the hospital. He may live one day or maybe 6 . He is struggling and suffering with his breathing. Yesterday they put him in a private room with 100% oxygen. With Ativan and Morphin given in between doses. He has been the best husband, father, friend and neighbor anyone could ask for.
I will be back on here as soon as I can handle this crisis.

He will be in a better place with no suffern. My mom died
