Need help selecting backsplash!!!

I need your help with selecting a backsplash for my kitchen upgrade. The picture below is of my current kitchen with light maple wood floors and light maple cabinets. I am adding Uba Tuba granite countertops and I'm considering a tumbled travertine backsplash (possibly light walnut) but don't know which color will look best.

All suggestions and pics are appreciated Thanks!!

I don't think I would like a travertine with that color cabinet. The honey tones would wash it out, and the travertine might dull the cabinet color. I think a slate backsplash would work much better. Either in a subway or 4 x 4 tile. It would also add some variation of tone and texture as everything is the same color now. Do a Google search for slate backsplashes and or flickr.com and you will see many examples.

I think slate is a great idea--especially with Uba Tuba. I agree that Travertine wouldn't be my first choice. I don't think it will have much pop. You could also consider glass tiles in earthy tones. Or ceramic tiles in earth tones.

Maybe glass subway tile but going vertically as opposed to the traditional horizontal layout. So you have traditional with a more contemporary feel and it may open up the space between your counters and upper cabinets. Personally I like a solid subway color but here are some gorgeous glass mosaics (I used some in my shower) http://www.stonepewteraccents.com/SPA_sumi.html It may give a little pop of interest if you pair it with a solid subway. I think white would be a nice contrast. I've attached a link to a GW member's (kellienoelle) kitchen that used Delicatus granite & a classic white backsplash. So far everything is very nice, but with limited visual impact. I agree with others that you need some more pop with a slate or glass tiles.

Any advice on how the mosaic shown above may look in my kitchen? I'm planning to see it in person tomorrow but would like some feedback beforehand. Thanks.
