Looking for a black and white granite, are there any?

It is official I have finally talked man into the kitchen remodel...but we are stuck on the counter tops, surprise surprise. So my question to you fellow kitchen junkies is what are some names of granites that are predominately black with white/whitish movement in them, if any? We both really want soapstone, Black Venata, but it is hard to find in Orlando Florida, no one has it in stock and no one wants to work with it. Sooo... we are trying to find something similar in granite. Does that even exist? By the way the kitchen is a devil red (we love the color and are keeping it), the cabinets will be white, the island top a dark stained maple, the floor white tile, and the back splash white and black tumbled marble with maybe some pewter accent pieces. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what the budget is, but the most "black and white" granite I've ever seen is fossil black. It's not cheap! But it's really cool!

Black Granite and White UM Sink

Here below is a picture of our Kohler cast iron sink with honed black pearl granite. One of my biggest disappointments with my renovation is that my fabricator refused my request for a positive reveal on the sink. The positive reveal was the main reason I liked the look of the white sink with dark granite. Jalys6's look was exactly what I was aiming for. My fabricator said that the visible clear silicone caulk necessary for the positive reveal would be so unsightly he was refusing to do it for me. I'm still puzzled why he refused when so many positive reveal sinks look great to me. (I don't see big globs of silicone around the edge of Jalys6's ink where the cast iron meets the granite.) Oh well .... I still do love the sink with the dark granite.

Hey, you are right Francy. I live in Bergen County NJ and I have never actually seen one in real life either. But I do think a lot of people are doing black/white combinations is new homes. They call it a Hamptons sytle kitchen here in the Northeast. A few people on the Food Network have this style on their shows, like Ina the Barefoot Contessa who actually does live in the Hamptons. So I guess that's where the look originated?

I used BM Linen White on my kitchen and family room cabinets in my last house (painted over oak). The family room had an absolute black counter and the kitchen was ubatuba. I don't have any pictures in the family room taken closer up of the absolute black. It was a prefab slab, quite serviceable. This picture is from the real estate listing, excuse the HDR. I liked the creamy white color of Linen White and might use it in my next house. The walls here are SW Restrained Gold.

After clicking on slab gallery, on page 4 of the granite slabs there is a black and white called Via Lactea. It might be more speckly vs. veins but it's black and white.
I live close to Orlando and spent weeks going to granite yards, I know how frustrating it can be!

How about this one? Don't know the name, but it sure is pretty. If you wish, I can find out the name for you. I love it. It is wild!

The picture is not the best given the angle of the sun at the time I took it, but believe me, it was a stunner!

The wildest one I ever saw was called Rodeo -- looked like a holstein type cowhide -- really big patches of really white mixed in with some really black areas, no grey.
I've also seen both what igloochic calls fossil black and another black with fossilized cherries/cherry leaves, both very cool, at the local pricey "celebrities have their designers shop here" yard.

I saw one called "blue barracuda", that looked a lot like the one above. Mostly black and white, with a little blue.

And this one below is called "midnight storm" (here, at least) and it is GORGEOUS!!!!!!! The pictures do it no justice. The white quartzite sparkles, and there are little yellow and reddish inclusions in it. However, I did not get it because it is a bit prone to chipping. But I was in love.......

Also, I have another one that looks like a picture from the hubble. Really, really pretty!

There is also a quartzite stone I looked at and considered buying. It was a bit cheaper than my granite I did get and it reminded me of carrera marble (that I absolutely love!). I decided to go with something with more color (Yellow River) because I thought I might get bored (over the next 100 years until I can afford to redo my kitchen again) with just two colors.

There are some other granites that look like chocolate chip ice cream (sierra comes to mind), so they are out there if you want them.

Thank you for these great suggestions! Hubby is going to another granite yard this morning and is taking a print out of this post with him. Hopefully we can find something to fall in love with other than soapstone.
