Tumbled travertine for backsplash
Comments (5)Plenty of people here have used travertine. But here are a few reasons why I did not go that route and instead had a ceramic crackle subway tile installed. The brown colors can turn gray or pink under certain lighting, not something I wanted with my granite. A friend told me that there was staining around the sink area because of the water splashing there. But, I ultimately decided against it because it is a trend that is soon ending. Many of the kitchen here look great with the travertine (Or the tumbled marble) but you will not be shopping at the same place they did nor will you be getting the same thing they got. There are so many variations in the stone. You can get a few samples, and then when you get the box, there will be even more variation. Is this the look that you want? I also ripped out one backsplash because the white tile had a gray cast when installed! I lived with the sample tile for weeks and no one noticed a bit of gray in it!These tiles can be trickly....See MoreAnyone have honey onyx in backsplash?
Comments (21)I think its so pretty but i would be afraid. my best friend though put ceramic bricks everywhere and did a beautiful honey only design behind her stove. she also cooks a lot. She said its holding up well but you have to seal it often, she does it like every 9-10 months. It is really gorgeous though....See MoreNeed Help Choosing Backsplash & Sink For New Venetian Gold Granit
Comments (7)Without seeing the slab it's hard to know for sure but here's one from Jeffrey Court's Antico Portugese line color Country Gray: These are kinda cool. I know nothing about the pricing. These are cement mosaic tiles by Villa Lagoon Tile. The colors are complements to Sherman Williams colors. I like the Pearl Gray below. It's a match to SW Mindful Gray. Last one for now, a more traditional 6x6 Italian Tile: This was from http://www.ceramic-tile4u.com/ . Budget tile too at $4.04 sq. ft. It was their Arpa Star tile in gray. That site has HUNDREDS of tiles to look at. May be WAY time consuming but worth a look. Good luck!...See MoreDoes anyone know where to get this backsplash??
Comments (5)Sharon kindly responded to my email request for information regarding her backsplash. I hope she won't mind if I share the information she provided. Sharon wrote, "My back splash tiles measure 5/8 x 5/16. I had a hard time measuring them, as they are quite small. I bought them at a granite/marble yard in Santa Monica, CA. I went there only one time, rode with my KD, and never went back. So, I don't even remember the name of the place. I looked this up on the internet, and I think it must have been on Lincoln St, as I see two places there. But, I can't tell you which one it was.." It's a lovely backsplash that complements the granite and doesn't fight with it; it's simple in design, but has lots of texture and interest; and something I don't think I would tire of. I've been without a backsplash for two years and hopefully I can find something that I like as much as I love Sharon's. Thank you again Sharon....See Morehouseful
