Have you thought about painting the one you have?

Kirklands often has small lamps that might work for you. My DD has one that's about 9" tall that she got from that store.

How small is small? What materials and colors are you leaning towards?

How much do you want to spend?
I looked for small, silver lamps not too long ago and found lots of beautiful ones over $300.

Try lampstore.com. They have a large selection of small lamps in many styles and the prices aren't too bad. I have no connection to them, just like what they have. I've never ordered from them.

Greywings, I wouldn't paint it as it's hand thrown pottery made by a relative.
Monablair, we don't have Kirklands in Ma. but I'm going to see if they have a website.
Judiegal, I'm looking for something organic like hand thrown pottery or nature related, not more than 14 inches. I'd like to keep it under 100.00 but if I see something I really love, welllllllll you know lol.

Have one made....find a "thing"...a vase, or a candle stick or a jar.
Take it to a lamp shop, have it wired, get a faux candle thingey...or not...get a riser or harp and a shade....and for about what a decent lamp would cost you have what you want.

Okay, I checked all the sites and nada. Lindac I might just do what you suggested. I went to a shop today who would do just that. Les I'm looking for an odd green like in a van briggle lamp. I have other pieces of pottery in those lines.
Olychick, I've looked on Etsy and found gorgeous lamps but they're all too big. I still have 2000 more to go, what a site!!! Now I'm thinking of having a friend make me a raku piece in an organic shape like a gourd. Let's see what happens.

I was going to say the same thing Linda said. It's so not worth all the time you are spending when it would surely be easier to find a pot either clay or copper and have it made into a lamp. Check for lighting store locally that sells lamp parts they usually have a repair shop at the back of the store. Or you can always make one yourself with the jar type lamp kits you can find at hardware stores.

I like Linda's suggestion. I did something similar a few years ago. I wanted a very Spanish Colonial lamp, but everything I found looked too new, too cute, too generic, or was too large for the space I needed. Still searching, I walked into an antique store in Old Town Albuquerque and fell in love with an antique chalkware santo (statue of a saint). The owner suggested a lamp place to take it to. There, they created the perfect base for the statue and attached it with museum putty, so that it wouldn't be ruined by glue. The post curves around my statue and I was able to pick the perfect shade for it. I love it and always get complimented on it. It's the perfect size, one-of-a-kind, beautiful, old, and adds so much character to my room. You might be able to find a great piece of pottery in the right color and have it attached as mine was. The lamp base itself was not very expensive to have put together.

You've convinced me. I'm living in a town with lots of antique stores so next week my mission is to find that unusual piece I'm desiring and then make it in to a lamp. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks so much everyone.

Just FYI, a few years ago I made a floor lamp from a very tall pillar. I got a lamp kit from Home Depot. I was a little uneasy about doing the wiring myself so the guy at the store actually put the wiring together for me so that when I got home, all I had to do is place it inside the lamp base. I now realize that it really is no big deal and next time would do it myself. I dont think the kit cost more than $10. Lamps are something that cost very little to make, using household objects, but are sometimes very expensive to buy.
