I used my old leather luggage from England to store browsing decorating magazines on the stretcher shelf of my night stand/library table.

Here is a wall unit (Maple art deco wardrobe) I had in my Office in my other house and I kept some luggage up on top. This photo shows other objects with it in the vignette. I also put some rope lighting and small clear xmas lighting up there too so I could light it up at night.

Here is one photo from my current guest room where we plan on making a wood base with legs to hold the set of small suitcases being used as night stand.

There are a lot of nightstands for sale on Craigslist and you could look for one near the dimensions of your suitcase to put on the top.

Or have a special shelf made for it to stand the suitcase on and then hang a picture or something on the handle to drape down in front of the suitcase.

Is the interior in nice condition?

If so, and depending on size, why not leave it open on the dresser with guest towels and other amenities in it? Soaps, botted water, slippers, etc etc

I have the exact same case, engraved initials and same era that belonged to my mom! I had it sitting in the LR, but now it's under the bed.

Does your's have the navy silk like interior w/pockets and ribbon? I actually use it for short trips.

Also like the idea of using it for guest supplies. The link with the wall-mounted case really is clever, but I don't think it would work for my space.

oakleyok, you've described the interior of my case. I used to use it for sleepovers at my grandparents'. For the past couple decades it's been used as a storage case for DD's American Girl doll clothes.

Oh, my goodness! I have a navy leather suitcase with tan trim and gold embossed initials that belonged to my great aunt, who was a nurse at the children's hospital.

Thank you for reminding me of it...I'm going to go pull it out of storage this very day. I love the idea of using it open with towels and toiletries - maybe with a mirror installed in the top, so that it serves as a little dressing table?

I just found a small table the exact size of my Dad's wooden suitcase with his initials. He came over from Scotland with just that suitcase. It sits in the den and gives me comfort.

Not that anyone would want to cut them-up
but I've always liked this wall....
