Help choosing backsplash & sink - kitchen remodel

Need help choosing the backsplash color and style, plus what color & material for undermount sink. I have Kraftmaid Mushroom painted cabinets in Shaker style with all SS appliances. Kitchen is really small (8'x10') but relatively open concept with good natural light. Floors will be bamboo (medium darkness) throughout the house.

Decided on Yukon Blanco Silestone countertops, and might go with their matching sink (want to avoid stainless sink). I think the Silestone sink will be too shallow (6" depth from what I've read online). Maybe a Blanco Silgranit sink but if so, what color matches best with Yukon counters?

I really like the look of glass subway tiles but don't want too modern or easily dated look. Thinking about the new Walker Zanger 6th Ave tile in Pale Blue.

What do you guys think? I'm a huge huge fan of this site...I just can't seem to figure out how to post a picture.

Hi Sara,

Looking for the WZ 6th Ave, but can't find it. Can you post a pic?

I looked up the Yukon Blanco, and on my screen they look like a beige-cream, is that about right?

I love your cabs. Is the mushroom a grey-tint or a beige tint? Can't tell from my screen.

Without seeing the slab it's hard to know for sure but here's one from Jeffrey Court's Antico Portugese line color Country Gray: These are kinda cool. I know nothing about the pricing. These are cement mosaic tiles by Villa Lagoon Tile. The colors are complements to Sherman Williams colors. I like the Pearl Gray below. It's a match to SW Mindful Gray. Last one for now, a more traditional 6x6 Italian Tile: This was from http://www.ceramic-tile4u.com/ . Budget tile too at $4.04 sq. ft. It was their Arpa Star tile in gray. That site has HUNDREDS of tiles to look at. May be WAY time consuming but worth a look. Good luck!

nosoccermom, Yes those tiles were the ones we had actually looked at already. We definitely need a new floor, the old one has been really beaten up and in fact was only glued around the edges, and it's coming up around the wall in some parts, and overall looks dingy. We weren't sure how the color would fit in with the kitchen however. The interior designer recommended something called "grey washed" is what I have written down. I like the appeal of the luxury vinyl, they aren't cold tile, easy to install, and the grout is actually a better version than regular tile group in that it's not porous.

Also, the kitchen is small and does not look to have the typical 18" high space between counter and upper cabinets. While the herringbone is beautiful, I think you needs some height so you can truly appreciate the pattern. You'll probably want to go simpler in a warmer white tile. I'd be inclined to select something more vertical in design to draw the eye upwards.

New to this so posting the details of my kitchen backsplash quandry choosing here. The first photo is one where I liked the backsplash posted by Me Agirl on another post of Quentins. Does anyone know the specifics so I can get it in Canada? My situation is that we have Cloud white shaker cabinets, statutario quartz counters, tile flooring with white, beige, grey, coppery patterns, buttery yellow wall colour, dark walnut colour birch island. I wanted to steer away from subway tile but I see that it has a lot of versatility. The backsplash will go behind the range (not in the pic) and along this side counter. Is the backsplash in this photo too small? I don’t like busy patterns, like a warm feel. wanting to go for more modern but not trendy. is this kind of backsplash hard to keep clean?

Thanks Madeline616, the mushroom finish is kind of a cool tone so greige looking to me (especially with no lights on). I'm leaning now towards a pale greenish or blueish grey Penny tile just to keep things simple versus the 6th Ave tile...
