built-in furniture framing

We have a trapezoid-shaped bump out at the end of one wall of our living room with a window in it. We are planning to put in a built-in window seat in the bump-out, and then somehow turn the corner with an integral built-in shallow desk where you can browse a book or work at the laptop.

My question is about the best way to frame in the built-ins. Is it better (easier, more correct, whatever) to create a frame of 2x materials and put false faces on it, or build the units in the shop and then attach them to the walls and fill in the voids when the main carcase is installed?

I think the 2x framing would be easier, and should be just as reversible if all the pieces are screwed to joists and studs. I could attach faces with screws and cover the screws with molding. Or, I could build the units like modular cabinets and screw them to the walls.

Any input?

Thanks,

-Jamey
