Kraus sink and grid
Comments (9)I don't bother with a grid for the reasons mentioned in the OP. I don't think it matters which brand of stainless sink or grid it is. A grid made by anyone has nooks and crannies, and the plastic bumpers and feet--if you didn't have the plastic bumpers and feet, the grid would scratch the sink. I wouldn't blame Kraus. I can't deal with having to clean one more thing, and the nooks and crannies of a grid bother me, so I didn't get a grid for my sink. My stainless sink has a lot of scratches which have blended into the "patina" that is mentioned a lot on the Kitchens Forum. It looks fine. Also, my sink has a corner drain (also known as an "offset drain") - this drain location is a huge advantage because you can set things down in the sink without covering the drain, so the need for a grid to allow water to flow into the drain is eliminated. Anyone reading this thread who is looking for a sink, regardless of the material, should try to get an offset drain IMHO. Drains offset to the corner are less common, but there are many sinks made where the drain is offset to the rear-center....See MoreKraus sink owners - is this defective or normal?
Comments (22)Thanks to all of you for the follow up. I'm going to exchange it and see if I get a better example - if the next is the same I'll just go with the Kohler Vault for the same price (zero radius corners). I'm worried about rusting issues on the Kohler (several reviews have referred to it), but it's the only other sink that will work that we can afford. Snookums, I can take a picture farther away - but because of the reflective sink my phone just shows the reflection and it's out of focus. These are $450. I'd love to get a Franke or something without flaws but unfortunately those are far out of our budget. FWIW, I tried an Elkay first. The Elkay showed up damaged and dented, and was rusted in the box. I would have ordered another but it's 3+ weeks out and we need the sink next week. The rest of the project is going well, but the sink is giving us fits....See MoreKraus sinks at woot.com
Comments (2)Thank you so much! This item has been on my wish list and now I can cross it off! Amazon had it for $299, so at $189.99 it is a deal!...See MoreZero Radius Kraus Sink
Comments (10)I have absolutely no idea what "10 degree" is supposed to mean in this context. Must be some funky marketing term. Having said that, the reason why people prefer minimal radius (other than aesthetics) is that it makes it easier to use the entire space. If you have a pronounced radius and you try to place large cookie sheets into the bottom of the sink, they might not fit. With zero radius, that problem goes away. But even if you have a quarter inch or half inch radius, your cookie sheets are going to fit. They rarely have perfectly sharp corners either. And from a functional point of view, even a tiny bit of a radius does make it much easier to clean the corners of the sink than having a perfectly rectangular corner. Does it make a big difference? Nope, not really. But I do understand why manufacturers opt for maintaining just the slightest bit of a radius. As as for looks, either one looks just fine to me. I don't think I would base my purchasing decision solely on whether the corners are zero radius vs. minimal radius. There are more important design decisions....See Morejojo100
