skim coating...it works!

We're having our 1978 home gutted and redone. Since we took down 3 walls to make a great room, I took out all the old drywall in that area and put in new. The bedrooms all had that terrible knock down finish from the 70's (very thick, almost like stucco). The drywall sub recommended skim coating the bedrooms so I wouldn't have to tear out and redo the existing drywall (I wanted it all to match the level 5 smooth finish on the new walls).

Have to say...it's pretty impressive...he did a spectactular job. I was very skeptical until I saw this. And all the corners and ceiling/wall joints have perfect sharp perpendicular edges, just like with new construction.
