Stained or Painted - Crown Molding, Doors, Windows

We have oak crown molding in the foyer, dining room, living room, and family room. The foyer also has an oak coffered ceiling and there is an open oak banister in the dining room part of the stairs that lead to basement.

We are remodeling kitchen and part of that is to put back a wet bar. So in the photo below, we will be removing the mirror from the mantel and it will be going back to a wood mantel. The mirror and glass shelves to the right are being removed and a wet bar is being put back in so at the top there will be lighted cabinets and to the right a double stack wine rack.

We are thinking we should paint the crown molding so it doesn't clash with the cabinets that are more reddish brown. We also thought that would not cut off the room at the ceiling. We are also thinking of painting the coffered part a darker blue (right now it is a teal color painted by previous owner) and then would also pain that oak quarter round strip lighter as well.

In addition, we are replacing the non opening windows with a Andersen Narroline wood slider. We got it unfinished because we thought we would stain it, but now we are wondering if we should paint it instead.

All he windows on the bedroom side of the home are wood stained with white molding around them.

Would painting the molding in the family room while leaving the oak in the foyer, dining, living area be odd. You an see the family room from the foyer. But the molding from the foyer does not wrap around into the family room.
