How to Adhere a Shower Panel to Subway Glass Tile in the Shower?

So my tile guy just put up all the subway glass tiles in the shower, and the plumbers are coming soon to set up and install a shower panel, but which method are they going to use to adhere the shower panel to the wall without shattering the existing glass?? I'm not sure they are prepared for this, and would like suggestions on what the proper method is, so I can speak with them first.

Glass and tile drill bit and screw thru the tile using a mini clip. Why would have a plumber install a shower enclosure call a glass company (preferably the company that measured and had it manufactured?

Sorry I think you misunderstood, its a shower panel not a shower enclosure. A shower panel is a panel that has a shower head and body sprays on one panel. To install it they will have to drill through subway tile glass to screw in the mounting brackets and my tile guy doesn't know how they will drill through the glass subway tile he installed without cracking it. That is why I was wondering if anyone had experience with this without cracking the tile and the best method to be used.

Hi! The big window in the shower is part of my 1985 tract house and appears to be a problem for most homeowners in my neighborhood. The original installation was prone to leaks, with water penetrating the inside of the wall. Many neighbors use a shower curtain along that wall, but I wanted to have an unadorned window. We gutted the room, and hired a local "vinyl" window company to install the picture window. It's dual pane with patterned (Industrex) glass. The interior of the window was not rated to be used in a wet environment. The installer caulked areas he thought would be vulnerable. There is no way to know if water is going inside the window, but to my eye I think it's doing great. My tile installer used "old school" techniques, putting wire lath up with layers of mortar which he leveled perfectly. The tile is perfectly square and sits flush against the window. Along the bottom edge, he used sheets of vichithane (sp?) which is a sticky rubber product. He over-did that area to make sure water never entered the wall. The marble sill sits on top of the waterproofing system. A window in the shower is great and I love the design, however, I can't shower at night with the light on. I have no problems with a "peep show" as long as I shower in the morning with the light coming in from the outside. Hope that helps! P.S. The local window company convinced us they manufacture windows, but I suspect they are the same as big-box store retrofit vinyl windows. The rest of the house we used Renewal by Andersen and they're much better.

I have a shower with no curb -- it's designed to be a roll-in. There is a vinyl sweep on the bottom of the door, and there is absolutely no problem with water. On one side of the door we have 3" tiles (the inside the shower part) and on the other 12" tiles (the rest of the bathroom floor). You don't need a chrome strip. All it will do is get grungy. As for French doors, that's fine, if you want to spend the extra money. We have one door.

This is my shower niche. They used two full subway tile to go around on both the inside right and left and split the bottom so there's a joint right down the center. The back is the small tiles from the shower floor and there's one glass shelf. The two shelves slant a hair down and it's on the opposite side of the shower head so it never gets all that wet. The subway tiles they used on the inside are billnose.

sorry but I still believe the tile would b drilled the same way with a diamond tip drill bit.

You've got the install sequence backwards here. You install the rough plumbing first, then do the tile, and then the trim fits on top of the tile that is cut during the installation phase to fit around the rough plumbing. You don't do all the pretty bits and then drill through them to do the rough plumbing, and I'm not really sure that you're going to be able to do what you want here without breaking a lot of tile.

hopefully all roughins were done prior to the tile/glass work.
if it has been they will use the existing holes (that the tile guy left for them to connect the supplys to. all other Hangers/grabbars/etc. will have to be drilled into the mortar joints.

The rough in is done and the tile is in as well. It's just a matter of connecting the brackets and to do so you need to drill through the glass tole to make a hole to screw the bracket in.
