I only buy a bottle, when I need a clean one, or otherwise need to replace the one I am using when I "forgot" to bring my own.

But mostly I use my bike water bottles.

We have a PUR pitcher, prefer that to adding more plastic to the landfills.

The ones that are given to me at my spa when I get a massage or facial.
I take them home, and refill them from the kitchen tap, then store them 3/4 full in the freezer, and refill when empty. The freezer has about a dozen bottles on the shelf.

Like Oklamoni, I only buy one when I need a new bottle. then refill from the tap. One thing, I noticed about a year ago the bottled water bottles are being made with such a flimsy plastic, I now buy Propell, which is a harder plastic. I can't understand people who buy water bottles and just use them once and then toss them. Shame shame. JMO Dottie

I don't buy bottled water. I have a reverse osmosis filter on my cold water line in the kitchen and fill my own glass or bottle with it. So, I don't know what bottled water tastes best.

Thanks for the tip about using bike bottles. My DH gets a new one on every ride he does, and I never thought to use them for water bottles in the fridge! Duh!
We must have several dozen of them in the cupboard.

I rarely buy bottled water. Personally think it is a waste of money when I have good tap water.

The well water here (even after going through a softener and a reverse osmosis machine) tastes awful and is loaded with sulfur, tannic acid, iron and lime. The city water has more chemicals added for sterilization that the second softener and reverse osmosis still doesn't get out. I get violently ill if I drink either. All of that stuff is bad for my kidneys and the doc recommends not drinking anything other than distilled H2O. I buy large jugs of distilled water and refill sport cups for on the go. I would give anything to be able to drink just any water. Still I try to be as gren as possible.

What I can't understand are the people who refuse to recycle! These bottles are perfect for recycling and get reused in a multitude of ways, yet time and again it's the same old insistance of throwing them in the landfill. I just don't understand that.

I carry bottled water with me as I'm in my vehicle. I can't see any sense to paying $2 for a poorly mixed fountain drink at a restaurant or drive thru. I then have water to take aspirin or something and just quench my thirst. People think nothing of buying a can of pop for $1.25 but think it's awful to spend 10¢ on a bottle of water. It's fine to fill the landfills with pop cans and bottles but not water bottles. I must be missing something. When did WATER become such a villian?

I agree that Dasani is not right. I won't buy it. Otherwise I'm not too fussy. There was a store that carried a brand called LeNature and often had cases of 20 oz bottles for $2 - $2.50 on sale. Besides being a good price it was about the best tasting that I found. But it's not around and when it is, it's out of my price range. I like Aquafina but that too isn't on sale very often. Menard's has a brand called Glacial Mist and I like that. And Walgreens has "Spring" water on sale that's good.

Lately I've been drinking some pop that I have had sitting here and figured I might as well use, plus I'm starting to make some iced tea so my straight water consumption is down, except for in the vehicle, where I usually drink a bottle a day or more. I'll continue to buy it for the vehicle for convenience if nothing else. I know I wouldn't be cleaning the bottles properly to reuse them and I'd venture to guess few others do.

I've always been a big water drinker. Long before it became fashionable I've wanted a glass of water with my meal. Even now I notice when I have coffee at a restaurant I still drink water too. I like water and I make no apology for it. Still a better option than those sugar-laden soft drinks so many are addicted to.

I drink lots of water and prefer it over ice. With our temps over 100º most days now, I do keep bottled water in the fridge so that it's more available for me and the boys to drink. The last time I was on chemo I was terribly dehydrated and I won't let that happen again! I really don't care what brand of water I get as I like it all. The bottles that we drink here at home are washed in hot soapy water, refilled and placed back into the fridge.

Farmers in a local area where a bottling company uses wells claim that their large demand is lowering the water table ... meaning that their wells are going dry, so they must go to major expense of deepening them ... which is merely a temporary reprieve

As you know, many of the bottles are recycled (but that means using them in another lower level capacity, not returning them to the petroleum that was their original source) but a substantial portion of them are thrown on the road ... and a major portion of them go into the garbage. As I live within a couple of miles of Toronto's new garbage dump (purchased recently for $220,000,000), I am greatly interested in Toronto reducing, not increasing, their level of garbage.

Moreover, I have a suspicion that, as the feedstock of the bottles is petroleum, there's a good possibility that the making of the bottles may steal gasoline from my vehicle.

It took millions of years to produce the petroleum, and we've been using it up in the past three-quarters of a century at a disgraceful rate.

Our grandkids will chastise us (to use the least word to indicate their disgust) for having been so wasteful of such a precious resource.

When tap water is risk-free, bottled water is one more indicator of a society that is entirely too wealthy - that has more money than they know what to do with it all.

I never buy bottled water. Almost never enter the grocery store aisle where they sell that and soft drinks and chips, etc.

Our suburb has its own water plant, drawing from Lake Michigan. The city water is delicious and safe. We really don't need the filter on the water line in the refrigerator, but it is handy having cool water and ice available right through the door.

I will buy bottled water when we are in school. It gets so hot on the bus and it's easy for me to freeze a bottle and take it with me. I will try to use the same bottle a couple of times. Right now I am using a soda bottle for my Crystal Light drinks.
Not really picky about the brand and I will refill from my tap, just like the convenience of having a bottle on hand.

we drink alot of h20 in this house. i don't often buy single bottles thou i love Fuji, Aquafina, and SmartWater. i do buy cases of bottled water to have on hand for on the go but we reuse our bottles until they become too thin or banged up. most of our water consumption is tap and we have an inline filter. you really can't just drink faucet water in the summer here in orlando straight from the tap when it comes out at 80-90 degrees lol you need a tall glass filled w/ice. we always have a pitcher going in the fridge, bottles chilling for on the go, plus partially refilled bottles in the stand-up freezer. our dogs even have their own set of refilled squirt water bottles for walks :-) yes we do recycle our bottles. ~ liz

We don't drink bottled water. We have a whole-house water purification system. It's better than a water softener, because your skin doesn't feel slippery/slimy with it. You use less detergents, soaps, shampoos, etc. Clothes are softer and colors more vibrant. The water tastes fantastic, too. There is only one place on our entire propery to get water that hasn't been through the purification system, and that's the front yard water spigot.

No bottled water here either because the water coming out of my tap is tested every day where the water in a bottle may not be as clean and half the time the water source is from a municipal tap anyway. I use a Brita filter and if I have to put it in a bottle I use a reuseable water bottle.

I can't justify paying any price for bottled water. I use at the most in my home 4CM of water every month but my water and waste water portion of my hydro bill works out to be around $84.00 a month. I am not going to pay any more for water if I can help it so I drink from the tap.

When I used to buy cases of water I would by Nestle water when it was on sale. Not anymore.
