I like how we are derailing this thread with talk of cheese. So I looked it up and I didn't realize from your post above it was a mixture of the two types of milk. I've had sheep cheese before (soft spread one) but my sheep do not have good enough udders for milking. There teats are teenie tiny. PITA to milk. Also, though I'm sure it would be good as a cheese, last year I did try sheep milk for the first time from our sheep and thought it was soooo disgusting. I'm sure it would be good in a cheese though since it was very strong. I have done feta before and it was very easy and very good. It looks like a similar concept, just different bacterial culture. I love cheese.

No ants on my peonies. I have not see any of those large black ants anywhere on the property. However, those itty bitty things are all over the yard and this rain has got them making big hills all over the place. On the peonies, I rarely see anything on them except an occasional flying insect.

Is this like those pictures where you have to let your eyes "relax" so the figure shows up in it? Because I can't find the toad! Is it just one leg of the toad? Do I need to lick a toad?

I was similarly skeptical a few years ago when people were saying that the 17-year cicadas damaged many trees the previous time they were here. I reasoned that since adult cicadas don't eat anything, how could they possibly damage a tree. However when the massive brood emerged, the resulting damage looked exactly like susan_wv's image. As you say, the females do cut slits in twigs and deposits eggs therein. When the eggs hatch, larvae drops to the ground to begin the cycle anew. The key is when the 17-year cicadas emerge, there are lots of them -- as many as 1.5 million per acre. Each female proceeds to lay about 500 eggs choosing branches that are about 1/4 inch in diameter. Consequently in heavily affected areas all of the branches of that size are completely covered with slits to that point that the branch dies.

Casey...I have missed your daily post. Great pic! Moni...wonderful to see your family! LOVE the bike!

My daughter makes handmade soaps. She just sent me this pic of her latest cut. This is an all natural Oatmeal, Milk & Honey...I think it just looks soothing! The worst part of handmade soaps....you have to wait at least 6 weeks before they are cured. :/ But they are worth it!! :)
