Help, Kitchen talking French! Need creative minds (pics)

I would love everyoneÂs input here. I want a transitional kitchen but it keeps looking French. Originally I had thoughts on a Harlequin backsplash but that idea makes the kitchen seem real French so I found a transitional light that had some harlequins in it instead (which I like). I already have a sort of terra cotta "look" floor and I already have the BooÂs block table (I can paint the legs if need be). The top cabs are going to be painted butter cream in a shaker door with some glass. The bottom cabs will be cherry in a cordovan finish w/sable glaze. All appliances are stainless, and the French door frig will be paneled in the butter cream (I think).

SoÂwhat I need help on is a backsplash (or anything else) that will tie all this in and not look FrenchÂALL ideas welcome.
