Knobs/lever finish oil rubbed bronze vs. matte black
Comments (3)Hi PPS7, when I built a year ago, I decided to go w/ORB because I wanted an *older* look/feel to the home~*I* feel it accomplishes what I wanted. Yes, I did all my door hardware, door stops, as well as bathroom fixtures in the same finish. My light fixtures are mostly black w/ the exception of chandeliers. IMO, it's a personal choice. I like continuity in a home, that's why I chose to do everything in an ORB. If i were in your shoes, I would use the ORB as the black looks much to flat to me~light fixtures don't have to match in either case. Hope i've helped. ;o)...See Moreoil rubbed bronze hardware on darker cabinets?
Comments (26)Thank you sprtphntc...gorgeous color cabinets-kitchen. In your 1st photo,(upclose) the hardware looks totally pewter or matt silver though not ORB...Can you explain...As I need rich very dark (but not black)ORB matte real iron/metal. I initially though matte black to go with our handmade black custom potrack, wroight iron stair wells etc..and not be matchy matchy with hardware but the black didn't look good with my sample wood and so I'll have no contrast but go with dark ORB. LOVE the look. I am so thankful I found this page/thread..Apparently I'm not doing what is the trend but I go with what I love which tends to be timeless IMHO, traditional with rustic leanings....See Moreoil rubbed bronze faucet that is not black
Comments (9)that little faucet is my instant hot faucet. It is a mountain plumbing 'little gourmet' another I looked at which is so similar was the waterstone annapolis I actually found the tank at costco for the lowest price. It is the "quick & Hot" which comes with a faucet but not acceptable for my kitchen ( chrome finish) I ordered the faucet alone Here is a link that might be useful: instant hot faucet...See Morewhats more current black hardware or oil rubbed bronze?
Comments (9)Personally I think ORB is more timeless than black fixtures. I just finished remodeling and my hardware is mostly oil rubbed bronze with quite a bit of copper. I specifically chose ORB because it had copper highlights as part of the finish. I even bought old door knobs in an Art Deco style and had them refinished in an ORB finish. Since my remodel was inspired by Arts & Crafts/Prairie/Art Nouveau/William Morris with elements of Hollywood Regency LOL that it seemed more traditional was fine as the new fixtures I chose were deliberately not "modern" looking anyway. I didn't follow trends so I don't care whether I am on trend or not - resale didn't enter into my mind at all in terms of any of my choices....See Moremset31CT
