Wanted contemporary bi-fold closet doors

Does anyone know of a company that sells a nice contemporary bi-fold door. HD sells one that I really like it looks like a Sohji screen but they felt a little wobbly. If I can't come up with something else than that will be what I pick. But I have to turn over all stones before I make my final decision.

Check out Trustile doors. These are made to order MDF doors with true stiles and rails. Every doorstyle can be made into a bifold. They are not too expensive, depending on the style, but there is a lead time.

I was going to suggest those same doors in HD when I saw your post topic but I see you already know about them. They were on clearance not too long ago.

Like the last poster said make sure the opening is the proper width to fit a pre hung unit. Like he said prehung units that big are a lot easier to move with the doors removed. Mdf Doors wiegh a ton and 2 of them in the frame would be impossible to move. A frame can be jockeyed around a tight stairwell. There is another route if the openings are a non standard size, bypass doors. All the closets in the bedrooms have them and I just ordered door blanks and installed them on new hardware. I recomend Johnson hardware for bypass doors. It's cheaper to order from the company than have a big box order it in. Here is a link that might be useful: johnson hardware

47 7/8" is awfully darn close to 48", a standard size. 59 7/8" is awfully darn close to 30" x 2, a standard size. Why not just buy the standards and shave off 1/8" with a table saw? On the 41 7/8" one, can you either widen or narrow the opening by 6" to get it to a standard size? Of course, for that cost, you could probably just buy custom doors. Another thought: take your existing louvered doors, cut out the louvers, then add an 1/8" plywood panel on the back side, turning it into a recessed panel door.

I replaced the bi-fold closet doors in my bedroom (for my linen closet) with curtains (drapes) that I made from silk damask fabric that I happened to have in my sewing room, not being used. I also lined the drapes with silk - I get a lot of free fabric at work. I did not like the bi-fold doors for several reasons - one being the look, and another being that they would get stuck on my carpet. The damask that I used is a bit stiff, but it still works. I call them drapes because they are lined, but I hung them on a tension rod like curtains. How big is your opening? Mine is very narrow, since it is just a linen closet.

I haven’t been able to figure it out because the bi-fold door runs along a metal track at the top.....no space there. The doors do not touch the floor, they do not touch wall either. The button or pin switches do not stick far enough out for the space between the door and wall. At least not that I have found. I was hoping someone who did figure it out would share.

Palimpsest, I contacted Trustile, well I sent them an e-mail and they called me back. I gave the size of the door 36 x 80 and they quoted 3500.00 for a sojgi style door in a paintable wood. She said the Sojgi glass was very expensive and to just use a frosted glass would be 1300.00 I think. Both are way over my budget but thought I would post some prices for others.
