Should I add crystal to this chandelier?

Hi all,

This is the chandelier that is above my dinner table (not my formal dining room). It's dark green iron with leaves. I've always wanted to add crystal bobaches and drops. What do you think? Or does it look better the way it is?

I had shades on it but recently removed them. It looks good both ways but just got tired of the shades.

I added two pics of my family room which is off to the right and my kitchen which is to the left. All one big room. My walls are BM baby turtle.

I just realized I don't have a picture of my whole family room, just a bunch of pictures of each corner.

I wouldn't add crystals, but I would add nice fabric shades. Ballard designs ( ballarddesigns.com ) has many styles and prints to choose from that would enhance your light.

I'm sorry, I meant to add that if you are tired of the shades you had, newer styles are available and a pretty print---rather than just a plain colour----would smarten up your chandelier.

Turns out one could also use magnetic jewelry clasps sold in craft stores, like in the blog post below. What a fun project it's going to be! The drum chandelier from CL is already in my garage. It's brand new, still wrapped in plastic and in the original box. A visit to Michaels or Jo-Ann's for magnetic clasps, then shop around for crystal pieces. I want to coordinate my design with this Possini Euro Design chandelier that I've put in my entryway. It's another recent Craigslist find of mine. The drum shade chandelier (a box picture on the right) is a humble Portfolio piece from Lowe's. The shade color goes perfectly with my dining room draperies. Actually, I like what celery girl has come up with in the post showing both the ikea rug and a blue one. Once you have your table centered under the light, you will not have much room left, and the narrower shelving adds texture without mass. Take a look at the two looks: does it seem to you that the first room appears spacious, and the second is a bit busy? That is because the first photo is monochromatic, and relies on texture and depth of colour for interest - a much better idea for your more intimately sized room.

I am battling on whether or not to add hardware to my grey kitchen. I totally don't want to be one of those people who takes a perfectly good thing and ruin it with a bunch of crap. I sorta want to add hardware to my cabinets and at the same time I do not want to. I have been shopping around and there is nothing that catches my eye. I did run across some pull drawer hardware that was like a crystal clear modern but I honestly have no idea. I then began to search Instagram for others who have the same floor plan as I do. I came across only one person who put hardware on their cabinets that are like mines and looked pretty nice. What do you guys think? to add hardware or not ? also this will not be my forever home, and we will be moving in a year or two. Whatever I add, I need to make sure it is appealing to buyers.

IMO not that fixture which IMO has too things bad. ONe is it looks like a bare light bulb in a shed ans sceond it has an Edison bulb , worst yellow light ever.. You have a lovely home please choose lighting to go with it. I think you need a more substancial table in that entry and a piece of art above it to get some color in there . I do not love the wagon wheel type light in that LR either but you do need some table or floor lamps in there for sure. IMO a large drum style fixture would be better in the LR and then something similar in the entry You could even go much more contemporary in both spaces

I have satin creamy shades with cheetah print on the inside. They are quite nice. I guess I got tired of the look plus my DH always complains that there isn't enough light.
I've always wanted a black iron chandelier with crystals.
But now that my walls are green, this one actually matches so I'll keep it.

I want to add drops to mine also. It's not too expensive and would change the looks up a lot. You could add your shades back during the holidays or when you get tired of crystals. Of course, I'm not a professional so you might not want to listen to me. I just think it would be fun.

I say go for it! Especially if it's not that expensive to do, it would be a fun, different look for a change. You can always remove the crystals and go back to the bare chandelier or your shades.
