Feather River Doors?

I did search the forums and found negative comments about these doors - usually having to do with the finish peeling.

Here's my problem. I'm in bad need of new entry door and don't have a lot of money to spend right now. I'd like a fiberglass door, though steel may be acceptable. I currently have a steel door with no lites, but I think I'd like either a narrow lite down the middle or one at the top of the door. The door faces west but sun isn't a problem due to the large trees in the yard and the overhang - so it's somewhat protected from the elements.

Is a paintable, smooth Feather River door acceptable or should I avoid Feather River altogether? Are there other problems besides the faux wood finish? Home Depot certainly has a great price on them now. Would Lowe's doors be a better alternative, or could you recommend a decent fiberglass door in that range, around $300.

For what it's worth, I live in New England and am more concerned with keeping the cold out than the heat out!
