Copper sink pics. Not sure if I like... advice/thoughts?

Hi folks,

(Sorry again for the huge pics. I cannot seem to make photobucket save my resizing. It's so frustrating.)

I have a new pic of my copper sink in it's latest patina in the process from Rachiele.

Here is a pic of the patina that I loved on their website:

This is the current patination of my sink:

Here is my stove for reference:

It seems to me that this sink is going way too far into the blue. Especially when I picture it with burgundy red-ish painted cabs.

What do you guys think? I feel like it's way far from what I originally fell in love with, which seems more subdued with greens as the overall feel.

Granted, it's beautiful, but is the color BLUE the first thing you think of when you see it? I don't know but is there is something 'too much' going on...

I totally agree with you. Have them redo it until it is close to your inspiration pic. Don't feel pressure to okay the finish just because. Okay the finish when you're happy with it! It is going to be a stunner when it's done.

Hi Misselle! Welcome! That's quite the collection of plants! Very nice! I am horrible with names, so hopefully others will chime in soon and help. Your very last picture is an aloe, and yes, they can be slow to bloom. :-) I get impatient with mine. lol.. The one above it seems to be an Aloe or Agave. I believe the pretty little variegated one a little further up is portulacaria afra aka Elephant bush The one in bloom that you mentioned the photo blurry may be a Senecio It is important that you learn all the names or at least the family the plants are from to know the proper care. Especially on the mixed dishes. Many grow at different times of the year. Good luck! I will be watching this and learning with you. :-)

Ordering the vanity online is a tough call. But getting it ordered from a cabinet company was a time consuming project for me. In the search box on this forum's main page, put homedecorators in the search (all forums) and there are several posts that mention this website. And at the vanity you linked to you can read the customer reviews (mostly very positive). That custom cabinet maker site in Phoenix that you link too will be more expensive -- really anything with several drawers done custom will be expensive. With all the decisions you have to make you probably don't want to go around to kitchen & bath stores to pick out one from another cabinet company. But that's the way I got my vanity that's exactly the size, color and combo that I wanted but couldn't find online. My experience was they take 6-8 weeks from your order date until then vanity cabinet arrives. In my small 24 inch size it was less expensive than many that I saw online. Here's a cabinet line you could try to find locally 9by doing Contact Us at their site). Mine was Executive Kitchens. At the link to their photo gallery, at bottom of page is the Bath Gallery. nasalzak, The tiles you have should be mesh backed. You can "peel" individual tiles off and replace them with tiles of the same size. This can be done while still doing the install as a 12x12 sheet. I believe jodi in ca did this with her Jeffrey Court Fire and Ice backsplash. She took off some darker ones and added lighter glass tiles to brighten it up. Make sure the little tiles are the same size (they often say they are 1x1 but are actually 5/8 x5/8) and the same thickness (1/4 or 1/8). If you then wanted to get really creative you could insert/sprinkle some red glass in the copper, create a 3" or so wide strip of border, and continue with the copper above that. You wouldn't need that much redish glass tile depending on how much backsplash space you have. HOpe that helps a little.

Okay, I wrote him and expressed my thoughts. Too 'electric' blue, not working with green stove and burgundy red painted cabs. Luckily we are in no rush for the sink so I have time. Just have to fight the girl thing of 'going along to get along'. You guys helped with that, thanks.

I actually think you're eyes are reading so much blue in the actual sink because of that blue (plastic? cover?) in the interior of the sink.

I recolored that blue the same color as your stove (although an even better test would be the same color as the real copper interior).

I'm not too familiar with how copper sink manufacturers work...but how can the maker be responsible for how it patinas? Was there a disclaimer that mentioned the finish? And that each sink is an original? I can't imagine they would take the sink back.

Thanks Twodogs for the pic. It's still too blue, though. I think, however when he sends further pics, I'll use your trick of covering up the blue tarp.
Kompy: I don't have the sink yet, it's still at the manufacturer in Florida. They say that they'll work on the patina until the customer is happy and for the price of those sinks, I totally expect that to be the case. I know they can't replicate something from one sink to the next, but the overall look can certainly be achieved. If not, then what's the point of them listing all the separate styles of patina on their website for customers to choose from. I think they'll get it, it just takes time. Folks on here have gotten sinks from the same place and have all good things to say about them, so I have hope!

Kompy, this is from Dino Rachielle. If so desired, he patinas it (chemically) to your liking, then lacquers it to fix it.
