Removing brick from a fireplace hearth

I have this brick wall at the end of my dining room. At the time we first moved in our home, we had this installed for placement of a wood stove. As more of the house was finished, we changed from the wood stove to an unvented propane parlor stove (loved the look....hated the smell). I have a wood stove in the family room, a propane fireplace in the master suite and because I love the look and warmth of a fireplace, we purchased an upper end Dimplex electric fireplace to go in this area. I no longer need the big hearth area and could regain apx 2 feet of additional floor space by moving the hearth back. I need to do this before installing the wood floor. Any ideas on how to best remove the brick so I can reuse it to reconstruct a smaller hearth? The wall will be left as it is.
