I have one drawer with my large, clear acrylic cups and on top of each of them I have a large plastic cup (4 for a buck at WalM..t) type, so I can double stack them upside down. This way, I literally have 24 cups that way, plus a few plastic tumblers w/lids for the g'kiddos in the same drawer. I use a foam type mesh, slide-free liner because sometimes teens do not put in completely dry glasses and I wanted there to be a bit of an air gap and the cups not right on the wood. I don't need any spacers. They have never fallen over in 5 1/2 years. Ever. All other crystal or glassware are in the upper cabinets, organized. I have so many types of glassware. I don't have soft close drawers either. Why not? Doggone cabinet maker $rewed me there. I paid him ... well, that's in another thread! PS, the majority of my kitchen lowers are DRAWERS and they are AWESOME!!!!!

Gssh, regarding how to insert a photo, I copied this from another thread: How to download a picture: 1. Open a free account at Photobucket.com or a similar 'storage site'. 2. Move pictures off your hard drive or camera by first clicking "Browse" and finding your picture on your computer. Click on the picture then click "open". This will take you back to Photobucket. Click 'download' 3. Once the pictures are there in Photobucket, do the Happydance part 1. 4. Select and resize a picture, by clicking on 'edit' above the picture, then 'resize', then 'website' for medium or 'message board' for large. (skip this step and your picture will post giant and make everyone reading the thread have to scroll to the right forever. Not cool.) 5. Under your picture, find and copy the HTML tag in the box marked HTML (looks like >ahref =...). 6. Back at your post, copy that tag right into the body of your message. 7. Check the preview to besure the picture is there and sized OK. Do the happy dance part 2.

We store all of our glasses, coffee cups, and toddler cups in a drawer lined with that bumpy drawer liner from costco. The plates and bowls (mostly china) are in the drawer underneath the drawer with glasses and cups. During the day, it is often my 4 year old and 2 year old who empty most of the dishwasher! I LOVE having all the dishes in drawers. No more chairs being hauled into the kitchen when the kids need plates or cups. We have had no problems having china and glasses in the lower drawers, even with a house full of kids. The only adjustment was the first few weeks in the new kitchen when we would reach for the cupboard above the coffee maker when looking for coffee cups. :)

"Wouldn't horizontal access (cabinet) in the waist to neck height location be almost ideal?" In my galley kitchen, the 14.5" deep dish cabinets are directly across from the dishwasher and every day dishes, mugs, and kids' glassware go there. The shelves start just below waist height and go to above the shoulder. A breeze for me, and the 8 and 11 year olds can unload without too much slinging of dishes, up or down. As to rotating, I had to grin at Rosie's post "then feel bad about about my failure to meet even my own standards" heehee
