Have you checked out Joann's? Waverly has indoor/outdoor fabric on there called sundial that's similar (though not sure if it's in the same colors). Right now it's 50% off, too, so you may be able to find something that will work for a better price. It gets a good review, too (though it's only one...) Yes, it certainly CAN work. The throw that you have over the back of the leather sofa unites the two colors. Maybe try to find pillows that have both the leather sofa and the gray(?) sofa colors in them. Some pics shown HERE. Note the two prints that you have above the gray sofa - Here are more prints, but of stormy beach scenes. Look for fabrics/pillows in those tones. If you have some fabric left over and want to try something fun, try a kaleidescope effect by cutting pieces all from the same orientation and piecing them together at the center. I like to see what interesting designs show up when using a portion of a large scale design In answer to your original question, I prefer the first of your potential designs. That is a great fabric and it will make a nice addition to your space.
