Aluminum pots & pans - how do you clean them?
Comments (2)Actually the dark on the aluminum is a coating sort of like the dark coating on stuff like calphalon. Won't do any harm nor affect the taste. Something acedic will remove that dark stain...like tomatoes! LOL! I know boiling a solution of cream of tartar will also do it, but don't remember the proportions of cream of tartar to water. Comments (25)Pam, like you, I have a single basin sink and I don't like it. i don't have a sprayer either... I try to put most things in the dishwasher... non-stick cookware and straight edge knives usually don't go in the dishwasher, but sometimes they do. Sometimes I'll "soak" a pot for a week just to put off washing it as long as possible :O) Some things like the juicer or halogen oven can't go in the dishwasher and I dread washing them. I will hand wash if I'm in a hurry and don't want to wait, but by the time I'm done, the floor is soaked, I'm soaked, and the lamp and candles on the counter behind the sink are floating off the counter in a cascade of water... I'm even messy when I clean :o) I used to fill the sink with soapy water and rinse in a dish pan of vinegar water and then let things air dry in the drainer (I think dish towels can hold bacteria, so I don't want to wipe dishes that I've just washed with a dish towel that may or may not have bacteria all over it). Now, I wash one dish at a time under running water and just rinse it and put it in the drainer... I just stopped filling the sink and using the dish pan to rinse. I never clean as I go and I have a friend who chastises me for it constantly, but I'm not likely to change... when I'm cooking, that's what I'm doing... after I'm done and when I feel like it, I'll clean everything in one fell swoop....See MoreHow often do you wash your hair? How about never?
Comments (54)I also really love the Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo, it's dirt cheap and doesn't harm my very delicate fine hair. I just stumbled upon it too. I had bought it for my husband and he didn't use it so I had this huge bottle and used it and was surprised at how well it did for my fine hair and plus, it doesn't make my scalp itch, that has become an issue for me. I also found a conditioner that I love, it's Martix Biolage, the detangling one. Finally, a conditioner that doesn't make my scalp itch AND actually takes the tangles out of my insanely tangle prone hair. I used to shampoo daily because I styled my hair every day. Now, I just put it in a ponytail and call it done. I wash my hair about every third day now. I'd be very afraid to put baking soda in my fragile hair...I'm sure it would destroy it. I once (ONE TIME) used Dr. Bronner's liquid Castile to wash my hair and it damaged it so badly that it had to grow out before it was normal again. UGH! I'm lucky that I have hair, don't get me wrong, but my hair is very weird! My scalp is also very oily...so I cannot go very long without washing. Three days is pushing it and I can only pull it off because I wear it in a ponytail. I also can't stand the smell of stinky hair...UGH! It gets stinky after a couple days. That's when I know it's time to wash!...See MoreHow do you chose your dishes?
Comments (38)Anglo. I have always said tea tastes better in a tea cup on a saucer. I inherited my mother's tea cups and saucers. She collected only ones from England. There's 40 different ones. I have them packed since I can't possibly display all of them. I do have 4 out that I drink from. I'll take a pic tomorrow. Mom never ever used them although being from England she always used a tea cup but these ones she considered her **collection* . I always told her they went much of a collection if she wasn't using or displaying them. I have a feeling she collected them for me knowing I loved them. Tea time in my house is at 4 except weekends it's 3. I've raised the boys as I was to have a cup of tea and 15 minutes of chit chat. We use a cute tea pot and vintage mix and match tea cups with saucers. My everyday dishes are....LOL...a mix of different patterns of the older original Corelle Ware. It's a safer bet with kids and fits well in the dishwasher. I do have a few set of old, but in new condition stoneware probably from the 70's which was also moms. Than there's a number of different sets mom had collected from grocery stores thru the years which are packed up. I just never unpacked them yet. I should do that one day. I have a few large sets of China that's in the DR china cabinet which I pull out if we have guests other than my adult boys. I do love dishes and funny enough these conversations about china ect started just as I was talking to Amiee about what we should use this Easter. Of course Amiee wants to use the pink depression dishes...and I'm leaning towards the gardenia set. LOL...Amiee will win. Lol....See Moreheidihausfrau
