I happened upon this guys story on a couple of sites and wanted to find out more about it because it is intriguing if nothing else. And pretty bizarre and not just a little freaky.
He Discovered A Crawlspace In His New Home, And What Was Inside Seems Straight Out Of A Scary Movie

A Guy Found A Hidden Crawlspace In His House. What Was In It Is Either A Cruel Joke.. Or Horrifying.

Hidden room adventure.
He video tapes his entire entry into the room and opening of the "stuff"

He promises to update when he finds a player to play the tapes. This was first on the internet on the 13th so just a few days ago.

IF you found this in your new house what would you do?
Personally I am pretty sure I would have called the cops when I found the locked door or at the very least when I opened it and saw the room lined with plastic! Sure it could be a grow room but other things come to my mind.

I'd be trying to find a player for the tapes, too. I love a good mystery! I'm going to bet this was a safe room, that someone hid in there from someone. Or it's all a hoax, but it seems fairly elaborate. Keep us posted, please, raven!

I do not think it was a place for a person to hide in because the locks were on the outside. If someone went in and the doors closed and locked, he'd be trapped. I did not see a way to operate the locks from the inside. If the locks could be tripped from the inside, it would be a perfect hiding place. You set the lock, enter the room and slam the door shut. A searcher would not have the combinations and could not open the door, He'd assume that there may be something important inside, but never suspect it was a person. It could have been a wine cellar.

The paper money may be collectablies. Those bill may have had nominal value or there could have been a few that were very expensive. Those should be appraised. I sense these held value above the normal because thery were carefully enclosed in sealed mounts.

Those items could have been a smuggler's cache. For example, back in the 1980s, it was illegal for US citizens to buy Chinese postage stamps. There existed a small scale smuggling operation. A relative living in Isarel would buy Chinese postage and bring it on his person to the US to give to a family member or partner. In exchange, the partner would give him something that was scarce in Israel.

Its all speculation until we find more about the contents and the construction of the locks.

It did not seem built right for a storm shelter that doubled for other uses. Not right for a bomb shelter as well. A bomb shelter would have had a supply of food and water and a weapon.

'Tis mysterious indeed.

Very funny! I suspect the wind in this story was generated by hot air! Speaking of large fruits, what do you think about a 1689-pound pumpkin? That's the latest world record. Back to figs: I'd be interested in hearing what the largest QP is that was grown from cuttings I've sent out over the past several years. The biggest I was able to beat the squirrels to and put on a scale was an even six ounces, as shown on our Friends of the Fig Society website. One that the squirrels got appeared to be larger. If we pursued this like the pumpkin fanatics, do you think we could produce a one-pound fig? And, if we could, would we want to?

Anne, I had a similar thing happen to me. My Dad was laid off from his job in my high school senior year. I told my parents I wanted an opal ring for graduation. Lo and behold, they got me an opal ring with a big beautiful opal and two small diamond accents. I loved that ring, and especially when I thought of my parents, with four kids, finding the money to buy me that ring. I wore it on special occasions only. I kept it in a separate box inside my jewelry box in my bedroom. I got married, moved 500 miles away from my parents and had two daughters. The only person who had access to my jewelry box was a babysitter who took care of my kids for six years. We fired her when she stole some items from my kitchen, a shot glass and some cookie cutters. Not expensive, but I was creeped out at her stealing from me. Several months later I looked in my jewelry box and the ring (and its' box) were gone. I looked all over, asked my kids if they had played with my jewelry, but no. The only person who had ever been in my house was that baby sitter. I still see her in the neighborhood. I wish I had some evidence, but it's too late now. I've been looking on Ebay to see if I can find a similar ring, but I can't. I'm afraid to tell my Mom the ring is gone (Dad died 10 years ago).

Just because a particular circumstance is NOT listed as exempt does NOT mean the law applies. "individual who for compensation or gain or in the expectation of compensation or gain" is referring to the loan origination process, not the underlying sale of the property. Unless you charge a 'loan origination fee' you are not profiting from the loan making process itself like a bank does, the folks the law is aimed at. "Don't see how you can construe teh act of securing a sale NOT a "gain" for a seller (even if they are selling at no profit... ceasing their current obligations in itself is a gain.)" That is an IRS only viewpoint, and specific to taxes and income. If "securing a sale" is covered all sales are regulated, and that is obviously NOT the intent of the law. "*According to the WA State Department of Financial Institutions' response to a private inquiry from a real estate investor I know who wants to sell via carrying his own paper." Relying on the governments attorneys for a legal opinion has no standing in court. It is the same as an Attorney General issuing an opinion. It is not binding, and cannot be used as a defense in court. If you want advice that is useful pay your attorney. Government likes regulation.

Yes it is a mystery! I like a good mystery but I got a creepy vibe from it.
The locks were definitely only on the outside so if it was to lock someone it would be to lock them inside that bunker(for lack of a better word) and keep them there.
They went to the trouble of putting in a few electrical outlets which is why I think he was thinking of a grow room. Of course there are lots of reasons to need electricity including light.
The creepy aspect for me is the fact that it is completely covered in the plastic sheeting. I mean it could have been just plywood walls or even carpet walls but the plastic sheeting makes my mind go to scary places. (thanks to tv shows!)

Who knows but I hope he does find a player and update us.

Interesting videos---keeps a person wondering what is really in old houses. Being a collector, I would have put cotton gloves on to handle any of the money and jeweler
If they are worth anything, the oil from a person's hands will lower the value of the objects. Also you don't know what anything else is on the items..
