outdoor vs indoor furniture?
Comments (1)Wicker is actually classified as wood so depends if the wicker was sealed for outdoor use. You can check by wetting the wicker seeing if the water is absorbed....See MoreCan indoor furniture be used outside on a covered deck?
Comments (1)Much depends on the type of wood and construction of the set? If solid wood verses veneers. Also you would have to paint (exterior paint of course) every bit of the table and chair. Leaving no surface hidden or unpainted. Then you might have a set that would last a couple of years. But why chance a good indoor dining set??...See MoreWant to make indoor furniture waterproof to use on covered back porch
Comments (2)If this is an old piece, all solid wood, no veneer, maybe a full inside and outside coat of spar varnish will hold the moisture (humidity, not rainfall) away so that the glue joints do not fail the first year. An old veneered piece, failure. If, OTOH, it is a new piece, it is a combination of MDF (like compressed paperboard) plywood, particleboard and veneer. MDF or particleboard take on moisture there is no stopping what happens. I would hesitate to recommend an automobile wax for furniture, most of them leave a white trace in the cracks. A colored furniture wax (like Briwax) will get rid of the white residue. Nothing known to man will get rid of silicone residue, if it contained any. But, on to your question: to prep for spray varnish, scuff sand with 220 grit, vacuum off, or blow with compressed air, and wipe down with a tack rag. Work in a space with no breeze to cause drift. An overspray of poly is very troublesome to get of your car (not to mention a neighbor's)...See MoreUsing Indoor furniture Outdoors Covered
