glass-topped electric ranges

Hi folks,

I've read some alarming things about the smooth-topped electric ranges. Such as, no copper/glass/ceramic/cast iron pots. This seriously eliminates a lot of our cookware. Especially the cast iron. Is it just because it's heavy? We have some of the Le Creuset-type enameled cast iron pieces--would we not be able to use them on this type of stove??

If not, I may have to seriously consider running a gas line.
