I like how you handled the side wall in the last picture. Unique and nice way to finish it off there.

It looks good. I like the way you finished the side, too. If I could make a small suggestion I would get rid of the sliver of green between the base and the door trim below that. Just paint it out trim color.

We've gone back and forth over that, palimpsest! It is actually more than a sliver, but that isn't discernable in the photo. It was painted a color similar to the old cabinets and this created an odd, two-dimensional effect, so when we painted the cabinets we just touched up that area with green. Very, very close eye to be able to notice something like that, hats' off to you :)

This is that same area with the tumbled marble tile. It did not look terrible, just wrong for the setting:

very nice! i love how you extended the 'chair rail' and bottom row of tile to the doorframe, but ended the subway at the cabinet line--perfect way to handle that area!

Thanks, I do just love it, and the lady who did the tille was very good about figuring out how she was going to handle different areas.

Here's the best thing about it: after shopping for white subway tile and finding many choices, we went with the american Olean tile at Lowe's . The field tile was 26 cents each and the chair rail pieces were $3.50 each! The labor was expensive because the walls had to be rebuilt,but we would have had that expense regardless of the type or cost of the tile. There were more expensive options, and some of them were fabulous, but we achieved the exact look I wanted with these! Happy dance! :)

The grout lines do make a big impact there. Smart choice. It all looks wonderful.
