Need Creative Ideas for an Auction

Hi everyone

I need some KT creative ideas. I am going to present an idea to our PresidentÂs Council for an auction at Christmas time and I thought you might be able to help me. My idea is to auction off baskets of goodies. Here are some of the ideas I have so far for the baskets.. If you can think of any more could you please post them?

Bathe in Luxury (All bath stuffÂlotions, soaps, etc.)

Candles and Accessories (different scented candles, snuffer, lighter)

Chocolate Lovers (everything chocolate)

Clean Your Car (stuff for the inside and outside for your car)

Gift Wrap Basket (all different wrapping paper, tape, etc)

Movie Night (classic movies on DVD, popcorn, etc)

To Your Health (bandaids, anticeptic, ice packs, etc)

Wine and Cheese ( a few bottles of wine and different cheese & crackers)

Winter Warmth (blanket, slippers, socks)

Our church has done this for years.
Just canvass local stores and businesses(including supermarkets) for a basket for a charity auction.
They'll know what to include.

Two baskets we provide for our school auctions are "Hot Cha Cha!" In the basket we put hot sauces of all types. Tortilla chips, chip and dip bowl and salsas. Another is "Coffee Break Time". A coffee maker, two coffee cups, two choc. covered spoons, matching sugar and creamer set. Some of the parents come up with some really creative things. Birthday party baskets,= hats, balloons, confetti, etc. BBG baskets,= sauces and rubs, certificates to meat houses, utensils for the grill, etc. Garden baskets= gloves, seeds, starter set, hand tools, etc. Hope this can get you started! I don't feel you need to go 'outside the box' to sell, and do something outlandish. When I was selling, all but one person who looked at my condo were women. ALL commented on the decorating/staging, and asked if I was 'in the business'. ALL put in offers, most too low, but nevertheless, offers. People want to envision living in *that* space, if they *emotionally* relate to it and like it. It gives them vision, which you would assume most women have, but in reality, many do not. Buying AND selling is an emotional experience. You want to play on the emotions of 'I love', I need', 'I want'. Once you've 'captured' them emotionally, it's just a matter of time before one of those 'lookers' come back again, again, and again, and will finally submit an offer, if it's the right price. Make your home move in ready, and model perfect~'nuf said!! Good luck. ;o)

Are we talking about top soil? If so, I'd be offering it for SALE to a contractor. Offering it on Craigslist or Freecycle is also a good idea. When I have extra soil or "dirt," I've used it to augment the grade around my foundation so that it slopes away from the house. That tends to erode and it's so important. I also use it to create mounds on which to plant new trees and shrubs that could use more root run and drainage on my ledge rocky property. It can give them an extra foot or two or three of height, which is equivalent to a few years headstart for a screen. But I think you're looking for more fun, creative ideas, which I hope will be forthcoming. May we offer more fun ways to spend that 7,000?

Our Friends of the Library had a gift basket for kids....books, a snuggly blanket, stuffed animals and other stuff.
It was well received.

I attended a craft show before Christmas and bought baskets for my male recipients. Some had hunting items, others with fishing stuff, others had car care items, etc.

How about one filled with snacks and candy or one filled with things for someone under the weather (chicken soup, kleenex, books, some of those aloe infused socks, etc.).

game night (board games, cards and score pads, dice, puzzles, snacks)

camping theme is always a hit at our school event, sleeping bag, cooler, flashlights, bug spray, backpack, folding chair, camping guide books, passes to local state parks

book lovers with some recent best sellers, bookmarks, book lights, book bag, book cover, name plates, bookstore gift card.

Or more on the book theme: an entire series and movie versions. Like a Twilight basket w/all the books and DVDs that are out, maybe a t-shirt. Depending on your crowd, of course. Maybe the DiVinci Code book/sequel/movies. There are the Harry Potter ones (which might be big again w/new movie coming out this year and next).

vacation/travel (maps, i.d. carriers, toiletries bag, travel pillow/blanket, gadgets, airline tickets if you can get them donated, ham it up with sample size stuff and travel games)

local vacation (tickets to local attractions- go to the sites for donations, local maps, restaurant gift cards)

dvd's- w/popcorn and movie-theatre type candy to fill it in

video game system w/games and accessories (for the TV or handheld)

Nationality themed foods (Italian, Mexian, Indian, etc. with recipes books and specialty cooking items)

scrapbooking and/or photography

Don't forget the guys!
home improvement, hand tools, work gloves, just go crazy in Home Depot or Lowe's, throw in a gift card, instead of a basket put it in a tool box

Any sport: golf, tennis, etc.

Picnic supplies, a nice wicker basket w/all the nice supplies including a blanket

Some people prefer practical stuff.
How 'bout going green? reusable bags, rechargable batteries & charger, light bulbs, use recycling sorting bin instead of a basket to package it

If you get something donated that seems random, brainstorm making a basket around it. Say, get a photographer to donate services and build a basket w/photo album, frames b/c those sorts of things are inexpensive to add on. Just accept absolutely any donation then build around it, even if you end up with a "miscellaneous basket." Hey, people like a grab bag surprise!

I don't know your crowd, just throwing everything I can think of out there. I've done this once or twice. ;o) Good luck.

Gardening too, include gloves, implements, a garden gnome or other statuary or stepping stone...even seeds.

we just did a huge basket raffle at my dd's school. If you want I can send you the list & you can see what the basket was and how many tickets it sold/how popular it was

I am so glad you posted this info!!! You guys are all so creative and I hope I have permission to "steal" some ideas for these baskets to use with Legion fundraisers.

Also don't forget the Seniors. Small baskets of post cards--pretty one with pictures found in stores, stationary stamps, pens, pencils and even small picture frames or small photo album to put kids and grandkids pictures.
Also you could do one religous one with a Bible, maybe large print, some booklets, stickers, religious asst of cards et.
