What I was thinking is to pick a very basic small design from online that anyone could download. Then I would post instructions for backstitch and stem stitch, transfering the image to the background, working with Dream Poly to make the image "pop", and working in colors other than red. What do you think? --Amy

Sounds like fun. I'm not sure I could completely commit right now. I'm looking at getting tons of work this month that has to be finished by sept. I'm not even sure it's physically possible to finish it by then...LOL

After that I probably could. I could maybe try if it is ok; then if I don't have time I could do it a little later than everyone else.

I'd love to take part. I'd love to learn free motion quilting and stack and whack in particular. I'm such a novice I don't even know what redwork and landscape quilting are so I'd love to learn that too!

I would love to be a student, but I'm not sure I know enough to teach a class. The closest thing to "unique" I have done is the rag quilt from a cross-stitch pattern.

It's a great idea, but I would probably just be a lurker, if that's allowed! Life is a bit hectic--too many projects I have to do for other people that I haven't even gotten started on.

I wonder if someone would teach a class on figuring out patterns from a pic. i know many ppl here can do that. I can do it, but I can't teach it..LOL I have seen several posts of ppl asking how to do this.

Well, I m not a teacher,,,but Im all for learning, will certainly lurk a lot!

Wonderful idea and I might have time to take part. I'm waiting for an angiogram and have had to scale back a lot of my preaching. Every cloud has a silver lining and having more time for quilting may be my silver lining.

I'd love to do this. I can teach several things but don't really understand how you would do this online to our forum. Maybe I should just lurk awhile and see unless there are online instructions somewhere to help. If you understand how, "mrseldoo", I'm certainly willing.

I did receive several emails and will be emailing the "teachers" back soon. If you are willing to teach, I will work with you to get a class going online. I think I have a pretty good idea of how to "simply" make this work.

If your subject is one that has a copyright-ed? name, be sure to teach in a generic manner.
Stack & Whack is one I can think of off hand so you could be teaching a kaleidescope class.
This is a public forum and the last thing we want to do is step on somebodies toes. I don't know enough about copyright laws to be specific. There was something on the sewing forum a while back about 'Taggie' blankets and what a headache.

No problem, I contacted Linda Crone and received her permission to teach her method for Landscape Quilts.

Most people are so gracious when I ask to use their method in a class or sell a few items from their patterns. The usually seem a little surprised that I would take the time to ask them first.

I would love to make a landscape. Right now I am struggling on my own to finish a woodsy scene. Please let me know if y'all are going to run a class.

I would like to take the Redwork and Applique classes. Someone asked if we need to sign up...I don't see a response to that.

teresa........landscape quilting sounds and looks (if it's what I think it is) very complicated. I've only finished two quilts, but have been sewing forever. I'll be watching for the directions for how to join the class.......Marge

Not complicated at all, Marge! The small project we will make is not difficult and gives you the foundation in the technique to go on to bigger projects. I'll also explain how to take a special photo or scenic image from a card, calendar, etc. and make a landscape from that.

Oh, Please, please, please let me join!!!! I am really a beginning quilter. I started last July when my son died and it has been my therapy. I have quite a few quilt projects that I have gathered fabric for. But I need basic skills to help me. I did take a paper piecing class at Joanns. But I want to learn hand and machine applique and landscape quilting. I don't know enought to teach a class but I can be a good student.
