Dear GW'ers,
First, thank you. There was no GC and no ID on this project, but there were many many posts on questions big and small. This is the house that GW built. Thank you for your help.
Second, sorry. This is going to be a very long post! IT WILL BE IN FOUR PARTS!

Comments (8)KSWL, thats's a good idea. But I know they like this wonderful artisanal whole grain bread I get locally ... toasted! Reporting back. I opted for rice because i could mold it to fit the basket, and it's clean. It worked really well! I microwaved a medium sized bowl of uncooked plain rice for 1.5 minutes. Then I put it in a ziploc bag. I put the bag in the bottom of a round, lidded wicker basket I have (think snake charmer). Then I put a cloth napkin over the bag to hide it. I took the toast right from the toaster and put it in foil, wrapped the cloth over it and put on the lid. Success! Warm toast! This is such a fun project. oakley, i love old screen doors ever since my former decorator used them as twin headboards in a boys room (alas she never came up with anything that interesting for us). And in one version y'all were spared, I had used an old wood screen door on this house. But i cant see pairing them w my french doors, which I am totally sold on. Suero! Uncannily similar! How cute of you to think of me! Where are you? My fave is the way the dormers break the roof line. I told the GC that is a must, i got the idea from the one in the link. Thanks, KSWL. Maybe next spring I will hold a GW christening for it. Bumblebeeze, Yup, it is a good 25 yards from the pool building, which has a private full bath. I forget that not everyone saw the first post on this stonehouse, but it is probably impossible to increase the footprint and or add a bathroom, due to wetlands restrictions, zoning, preservation, and septic issues. Honestly, I don't really have a well defined use for this building, but it is too cute to leave for landscaping storage (we have a small barn and separate garage for that.) While it will have a double mattress in the loft and a sleeper sofa below, I doubt it will be used much for sleeping quarters. Kids slumber parties, a few romantic couples willing to carry a flashlight to the loo, etc. But not our mainstream guests, who will mostly opt for the guest room. I could see it as my home office for days when I need to be without interruptions (I consult one day a week) My guess is it will be part playhouse, part outdoor living room, part bar and hors d'oeuvres station. Especially with the french doors open and furniture out on the little patio area, it will make a very nice shady little area for adults to sit when kids are swimming, fishing and kayaking. Comments (26)WithoutanH, That sounds like some of the alpine beds I have seen. I think everyone loves "nooks and crannies". It's part of what new builds usually lack, worshipping at the alter of volume all the time! That is so sweet that there is a crib there now, awww. Voila, I agree, sometimes as a parent, you just have to do those things, even against your better judgment. Just not all the time. Justgota, She is a preteen. I too, remember my first forays as a decorator. And I know how important it can be at this age to assert one's identity... or just being happy that you have found one! KSWL, I did not know that, thanks. Though I acted nonchalant, i was thrilled when she said her "theme" was "writing". As for daybeds, I actually am not a huge fan since I think they are a compromise of sorts. But I totally get that the girls like to pretend it's an apartment, so a daybed can do that for them. We have the same daybeds in the girls' attic bedroom at the beachhouse that you have, KSWL. I think your project was where i first saw them IIRC. Pattycakes, LOL, please, not just yet! So, I did find a slipcovered daybed on PB teen, although it is backordered thru Nov 8. I gave her a choice of about 8 different daybeds (including the ones posted above), and she chose the slipcovered one! Prob because PBteen really knows their demographic, and this looks exactly like a sofa. Hers will go in front of a set of windows that is about 110" wide, and is flanked by brass reading lamps. So now, our whole house is white slipcovered and my cleaning person is going to request an industrial sized w/d! Anyway, this is the daybed: So, yesterday I took up her old rug (pastel braided chenille) and took out the second bed. (She has two white cast iron twin beds). DH mentioned that he could, for now, attached both headboards to one frame and it would look like a chaise. So we did that, and repositioned it where she wants the new daybed to go. It looks great. I told her that she can't get the PB one until she keeps her room clean for a month (I didn't tell her that the real reason she can't get it is that it is on backorder, shhhhh....). She will keep her dresser (simple, white thing by Martha Stewart with the canvas drawers? very cute). We are getting a desk from West Elm and two ghost chairs. Here is a rough diagram. One door goes to her BA, the other is to a little vestibule that the girls' rooms share. Ignore colors. Her walls are off-white and the carpet is camelhair color sisal. All the furniture will be white, and her theme is white, mint and gold, with some aqua (mint and aqua veer pretty close)....See MoreFor Marti et al based on your request
