Gwynne, I don't know if I had RA's here last year or not, being that I was new to butterflies and didn't know one from another until later in the summer. I did have one here this year but haven't seen it here for a good month, maybe even two. I have what I think is false nettle coming up in places but didn't notice any eggs. Of course, I didn't go looking through all of the plants either. I've never seen a Mourning Cloak here either. I've never really had much luck with trying to attract any of those rotting-fruit butterflies, i.e. MC, QM, EC, HE...I saw the RA on it a few times. I have real good luck attracting blowflies and yellowjackets though. I get a lot of Tiger Swallowtails here too. I'd love to know where they're laying their eggs. We live next to a big woods, so it would be a real challenge to try to find where they're coming from. I also get pretty many Great Spangled Fritillaries, but I don't have as many as I did last year. Of course, I have lots of Monarchs. I have yet to see any Viceroys at all. There are lots of different butterflies that I'd like to be able to get at my place, but I guess that will be up to them. Hey! I've got some fall crocus in bloom! I noticed them blooming yesterday. Earlier in the week, I raked out this area, which was just absolutely matted with leaves. I raked up some dead purple petals from the crocus, but some still lay flat on the ground and didn't rake up. I figured, oh, they're dead, but they're just still firmly attached. Well, it seems they revived and stood back up and decided to open up! There's only about 4 blooms, not a big deal, but a nice surprise. I am a bit concerned as I see about a dozen little nubbins poking up through the ground around these crocus, and I wonder if these are more trying to come up now. If so, I hope they don't get damaged when they inevitably get hit by the cold. :) Dee

so fun seeing all of you... and I see Linda in Iowa as well... so fun!

We are doing well.

My daughter Mandie is getting ready to have a baby in September. She lives three blocks from me. I love it. She is going to be having a little girl and naming her Bella Jo.

Taylor is living in a home for disabled adults and learning some social and living skills. He lives about three miles from me. I take him over homemade things each week and try to see him often.

Carlie is now 5 and about to start kindergarten. She keeps us on our toes. Smart as a whip and cute as can be.

Gordon just had surgery a few weeks ago for stomach cancer. He is doing really well and is up to walking about a mile each day. He was cut from breast bone to his belly button. He is gaining strength but still tires easily.

That is where we are!!! I can't wait to see who else is here...

I can't believe you are going to be a grandmother! You're too young for that. But you will love it, and you are blessed to have Mandie living nearby so you can spoil Bella Jo. I'm sorry that Gordon is having health issues, and I will include him in my prayers--along with the rest of your family.
