I like China cabinets - my parents had one and I don't remember it ever looking denuded when they used the good China. Probably because I doubt they ever used all the place settings. My brother got the cabinet when they downsized to an apartment - I didn't have the space. Just as well. Knowing me, I'd fill it... nature abhorring a vacuum and all. I do have a nice corner cabinet which could serve as a small variant of a China cabinet. It is currently in my dining nook (and will move to a corner in my future LR when I move). While I keep China in the bottom unseen half, I display keepsakes like a few Hummel figurines, a hand-painted plate I made years ago, and various other keepsakes behind the upper glass. In other words, no dining China is on display. Just momentos I like that I fear the cats might like - in the wrong way - too.

thanks for posting that story, i loved it! there are lots of people w/ big hearts who do big and little things all the time. i wish everyone would just do something every once in awhile, we would all be better off. i believe doing things for others' builds your own good karma and nothing compares to that feeling of giving a helping hand to someone. i believe i inherited this from my family :-)my grandfather sponsored immigrants from eastern europe and over the yrs have been repaid by stories of their success and remembrance of our family. one man he sponsored was getting married but could not afford a honeymoon so my grandfather gave him our limo w/ a driver (for our funeral home) for a few days along w/ a stay in a chicago hotel. 70 yrs later when that man died in CA he had put in his will he was to have his funeral in our funeral home. he had become very successful and paid for all the family to come to chicago for his funeral. his family all came in to us w/ stories about how much he talked about my grandfather & stories from the old days :-) you never know how much you affect someone you help, it could make a big difference in their lives. all the $$ you made in your life will quickly be forgotten by others' when you die but when you do good things people will remember you forever by passing along their stories. ~ liz

Yes, we still do! I have done 4 exchanges on here in the last 2 years and all have been very positive. Until you mentioned it, I never even noticed the "exchange" tab at the top of the forum page. I guess I am just used to the messages here. But I've had some very good exchanges from this forum and from good traders. I have some great blue lobelia (my favorite new perennial) but it is still blooming and would be better to trade when the stalks go down and the plant forms its basal crown in the fall. I also have some Geranium pyrenaicum... a sprawling hardy Geranium with white flowers throughout the growing season, ...again these would all be better to trade in the fall. I also have some nigella seeds ... of course they are annuals but as I'm sure you know, readily re-seeding annuals. If those are fair game for you, then I will have some seeds for blue and white Mt. Fuji morning glories as well. I would be interested in your burgungy daylilies. Any thoughts? Let me know George

so fun seeing all of you... and I see Linda in Iowa as well... so fun!

We are doing well.

My daughter Mandie is getting ready to have a baby in September. She lives three blocks from me. I love it. She is going to be having a little girl and naming her Bella Jo.

Taylor is living in a home for disabled adults and learning some social and living skills. He lives about three miles from me. I take him over homemade things each week and try to see him often.

Carlie is now 5 and about to start kindergarten. She keeps us on our toes. Smart as a whip and cute as can be.

Gordon just had surgery a few weeks ago for stomach cancer. He is doing really well and is up to walking about a mile each day. He was cut from breast bone to his belly button. He is gaining strength but still tires easily.

That is where we are!!! I can't wait to see who else is here...

I can't believe you are going to be a grandmother! You're too young for that. But you will love it, and you are blessed to have Mandie living nearby so you can spoil Bella Jo. I'm sorry that Gordon is having health issues, and I will include him in my prayers--along with the rest of your family.

Please stick around...and bring Babaloo with you! Hugs!
