fairytale: You and I have the same unidentifiable style. Take what you like and run with it -- I love that! You have style -- It's just difficult to define. From your pictures, it's difficult to understand how much space you have. Personally, I don't think it matters if your table shape is dictated by your room size/shape. Find something you really like. An antique table would be lovely, with chairs of your choice, with upholstered seats/seats and backs for the end chairs. You know what you like, you've done so well this far -- you don't need to ask us.

Your space is so fresh, bright and pretty. I'd pick up on the black from your island and bring that into the dining room, which you could do with either the base of the table (thinking maybe a black base/legs with a wood top) and/or the chairs (maybe a wood table combined with black chairs). You didn't say whether the dining room will be formal or not. This may be too informal, but LL Bean has a farmhouse table that (I think) comes with pine top and black legs, and also has black chairs w/ rush seats and the price is pretty reasonable. Or you could find an antique table and pair it with black chairs. Hard to suggest anything specific when we don't know how formal you want the room to be, how many people you want to seat, etc...

Fairytale, I think the Ashley table you linked above is nice. The two toned wood goes nicely with your kitchen. They have some reasonable prices for the quality..I think so anyway. I'm not a fan of pub height for a dining room though. I like the regular height in there.

So what did you do about your sofa? Did you find something? I was thinking about you the other day. I had planned to see if I could find something but then got sidetracked with photoshopping projects. No nibbles on the house yet??? Ugh!

Hey lindy...I talked to my best friend today about tables and she said (with disdain) that I am NOT allowed to look at pub tables for my DR...no matter how casual we are! Sigh. You know what? We found a dark, distressed table (regular height) at World Market that I really liked and I think we might just go with that for now.

As for the sofas...still haven't decided anything but this Sunday's paper had a flyer from RTG with one of the sofas I'd been considering. This time it was pictured in a beige room and the rich gold tones just seemed to POP from the sofa! Seeing that made me think it might work...but I'd still like to find a plain, comfy sofa and just decorate with pillows. You know what? After we put the girls to bed tonight, I may sneak to the computer and try to scan & post the Rooms To Go sofa to show it in a different setting!

LOL! You could also be the ONLY one who is right too. I'd just try and get as big of a paint sample as you could and head over to RTG and hold it up next to it. The one thing that us GW'ers don't see is the true real life color. It's hard to match things up from a photo that may or may not be off! Good Luck! I still LOVE that sofa's style though.
