Anybody having trouble getting on to GW??

S l o w e r than the proverbial molasses at Christmas time.

And if I click on any MY PAGE I get this message:

Network Timeout. The server at auth.gardenweb.com is taking too long to respond.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

Is it just me?

I have trouble a lot. I have to clear my cookies and then it works.

Yes, today is especially slooowwww, though this whole week has been pretty slow getting on.

I asked at Wegmans and the Giant. The Giant gave me a quick no. Wegmans appeared amenable at first when they mentioned that they used to save the spoiling produce for local pig farmers. But after I showed up several times to fill out a form that noone could seem to find they lost interest in helping me. The last time I asked they gave me the story that in order to give me the spoiling produce they would need my tax id number, presumably causing me to be liable for taxes on their waste. That turned me off to Wegmans for collecting compost materials. I did place a bin outside of my local Starbucks that the manager agreed to allow to be filled with excess bags of used coffee grounds. She was very reasonable and only asked that I provide the container (a 32 gallon trash can). Unfortunately for me she also told everyone else who showed up for coffee grounds to take them from my bucket, but I still do have a chance of getting up to 6 bags of grounds at a time. That is, if others don't beat me to it. I figure, at the very least, I am stopping more coffee grounds from heading to the landfill with my bucket (since they used to only keep a max of two bags until they went straight into the dumpster), even if its not me who gets them. Yes, Piers1326, it is a lot different since it changed hands. It is definitely slower, but some things are worth the wait. I think GW is one of them. I've met so many wonderful people, virtually and in real life. I've made so many wonderful trades and a few duds. I don't let the dud trades stop me from further trading and I don't let the "new" slowness discourage me from using GW. The rewards are still worth the wait.

Trouble Changing Email for GW

At one time, one had to log in from the main GW page in order for one to be able to update their profile. First I'd log out and then try logging in from Main Page and then try to update your email. Also I found this from some time ago over on The Suggestion Forum. For member profile page issues: Are you missing profile information? Have you checked to make sure that all fields are complete? If you are posting to any of the exchanges, you must have a valid zip code, state and country listed, otherwise it will not allow you to post. If you receive an error message, please cut and paste the entire message into your email. If you are trying to change your email address and it will not allow you to do so, make sure you include both your old and new email address in your email and your membername. 2 weeks and going strong for my 30" RNB. Just had the WGS yesterday and everything checked out. I had thought the oven was running low to the knob setting. He went through a checkout routine at 250, 350, 450deg using a thermocouple and it tracked very well. Apparently the $5 oven thermo I picked up at walmart wasn't as accurate as I had assumed. I think, from a thermodynamic standpoint, the only way to get a half cooked, half bloody turkey would be to either use the broiler (only top would be cooked) or if the bird was not fully thawed (likely). Even if the oven burner was plugged on one side (difficult to envision how that could happen), the big steel plate that is the oven floor would even the temps out to some extend. Not an ideal cooking situation, by any means, but would not lead to the results previously stated.

Look at the top of the page. GW is having "technical difficulties".

I tried all day to get on here,it was slower than molassess in january going uphill.When i did finally get through it wouldn't let me log in,so i couldn't reply to any posts.Finally just said screw it and went on to do other things.

My internet is so slow, it takes two minutes, just for me to click on a post and for me to be able to get to read it and then to post if I want, even longer. Some days it takes even longer. When it dries out, maybe it will get better. :(

I couldn't log in at all to reply to posts yesterday--kept getting an error message. Looks like things are back in working order today.

Phyllis, thanks for posting this! I thought there was something wrong with me because hitting the Back button once wasn't working.

And I too am becoming annoyed with those stupid Chaps commercials. I may never set foot in Kohls again.
