We got our cypress swing over 20 years ago from a man who made them locally. Do an online search for your area.
One of the things I love about ours is the chains run along side the arms instead of through them.

Wow! Gorgeous- and looks oh so comfy! Are your porch railings and posts white? It's hard to see in the photo, but it looks like they are and the cypress looks stunning! Now I may not want white! If you have a picture of the entire porch would love to see it!!! Thanks!

I totally agree about what a pain it is that no one local carries porch swings!

I am planning to order ours from Plow & Hearth. Everything we've ever gotten from them has been great. We're getting the eucalyptus one, as it seems like that will require less maintenance in the long run.

One of the keys to comfort (IMHO) is that the front of the seat have a curve to it--like mine or like the cypress swing shown earlier. If it is straight, the swing with cut into your thighs...not fun.

I bought my swing several years ago at Lowe's. We keep painting and fixing it up because I love it so much.

xantippe, I love the Plow & Hearth swing. Had thought about it myself, but those curved slats that stick out on the seat look like they would cut into the back of your knees. Did you notice that? If you get it please post!

happyintexas, Wow a purple porch swing. That is Awesome! I would totally do that if I put one in the garden! Mine is going on our traditional front porch. Think I want white, but DH is trying to talk me into stained. Anyone have thoughts on that???

Kay, the screened porch has a mix. The table & chairs at the opposite end are brown and the wicker rockers in the middle are white. The wicker may be replaced at some point with outdoor wicker and then I'll probably choose something that coordinates more with the swing and table, but the deal Pier 1 had 4 years ago for indoor wicker was too good to pass up.

The neighbor across the street has white rockers and a white porch swing on her Acadian-style home's front porch. Another house in the neighborhood with a cottage style has a red swing with red rockers on the front porch.

And the kitty likes to swing too!!

kayl, I finally ordered the Plow & Hearth swing, and it arrived, and we love it! There are some caveats, though.

Caveat one: We got the eucalyptus finish, and there are some small gaps in the finish between the slats. I bought a stain pen--hopefully, should be able to fix the problem.

Caveat two: The swing does not come with the length of chain that goes from the ceiling to the place where the other two chains connect. I bought two lengths at Lowes for $3.00. Problem solved.

Caveat three: I ordered the cushion that was supposed to fit the swing. The picture showed a seat cushion. When the cushion arrived, it was a back cushion. Don't need or want that, so back it will go.

Caveat four: One of the slats needs to be re-glued. Annoying, but nothing too bad.

So, that's the bad news. Here is the great news:

The swing is so comfortable. The slats are not a problem at all. I could (and did) sit there for hours.

The swing is beautiful--the construction details are elegant, and the color is great. Slightly reddish, but not gaudy.

So, yes, I would definitely order it again, but I am going to post my "caveats" in my review on their site. Not thrilled about those issues.
