Gonzer, if you reload the same photos with the same titles the links should work again, shouldn't they? Nev, there is no time limit as far as the GW is concerned, although I've found that the search engine sometimes doesn't work on threads more than a couple of years old. As for the photos, however, it's the poster who removes them from the hosting site, as Japie said. There can be several reasons for this. Either their account is getting too full and they want to make space for something else, or they figure the pic has been up long enough to get the response they were after and there's no need to leave it any longer, or perhaps they are concerned that somebody will pirate the photos. Sometimes newbies don't realize that removing the photo from the hosting site will break the link and cause the picture to disappear from GW, so they pull it right away. If you find nothing but little red Xs where the photos should be, check the date the thread was started. Chances are it's an old one that has been revived.

Hi Monroehydrangea, Here goes!! First your photos must be in an album, the ones you wish to post anyway..........go to the specific album and bring up the picture you wish to post........on the right side of the page see the words "Linc to photo"...........click that......go to "select size" (choose your size, I use large).............then click on "embed image" just above the size option...........click on "embed image" to turn it blue.......right click on "embed image" to copy............go back to the message you were writing.......and in the body of the message right click to paste. Now, when you look at the message you should see many 4-6 lines of gobbledygook and then you preview the message and if it was done correctly, when you see the actual preview it should show the picture instead of the gobbledygook. If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying until you see the picture in the preview. Hopefully, you're smarter than I was, it took me quite some time to get it correct!! Usually I click down 2 lines from the last sentence I have written in the message box and then paste and if you want to write more after the picture, click down a line or 2 again and continue to write. If you don't sometimes the picture can cover up some of your writing. They have a practice forum for posting picture somewhere, on this forum, I used it many months ago, you can practice there without making a fool of yourself, and there are usually a few people who lurk around the practice forum that will try to help you if you goof........... I'm certainly no lawyer, or expert, but as far as I know, you still retain the copyright when you post a picture, but depending on the site, you may have granted the site the right to use the picture in whatever way they have written in the terms of their agreement. So if posting to a place that says they have the right to make money off of them, and they sell it to a magazine & get a load of money, I'm not sure you'd have a leg to stand on to get anything. So legally, if someone posts a picture on the internet, they retain the copyright to that picture, with certain rights granted to the site (or whoever else they have granted them to, such as a magazine who may buy a one-time use for printing, etc). Of course, that doesn't mean people will not snatch them anyway, I'm sure it is very common, and most people would just be doing it for a reference, etc. I would guess. On the photography forums you will find people do get very incensed about people grabbing their pictures, since photographers make their living by shooting & selling the pictures. That is why many people put a very small resolution picture up, or put "copywrited" across it, etc., so others can't take it and make prints, etc. If someone shoots a fine art photo for selling, or portraits, or photos of a wedding, etc., they need the sale to make any money for their effort in taking the picture & doing any post processing of said photography (which can take hours), and legally it is theft if someone just snatches the proofs they've put up there & takes a disk to a photo shop & prints themselves unless they've received rights to do so from the photographer. For what I post on the web, I realize that someone may want it for some reason & take it. If I'm not comfortable with that, I don't post it on the web in a form they can use easily. I try to limit my posting to places that don't claim rights to my pictures, though I have posted WIP pics here of my one pitiful project;) So I apologize ahead of time if I've got something wrong, that is just my understanding from what I've read.
