What happened with the glass tile? I love your new tile but I think the old glass tile colors are great!

I love it if you use that glass tile detail on the board. It gives it a nice punch. I also vote for horizontal.

Dead on as far as color match - it's GREAT. I'd go on the horizontal. (much better than the "old" blue tile, IMO)

I really like the other tile on the board as well, even the decorative. Would you consider using all of the tiles on the board? They're gorgeous!

I love your kitchen so far! Is your granite "blue eyes"? Everything just looks great together, your light pendants, cabinets, fixtures, granite and your tiles, too. I didn't really understand your tile question and I've no expertise there. I'll just say I love your whole look and leave it at that. Good job!

We liked the glass but the first tiler left with our deposit after realizing that glass takes longer to work with and the second guy didn't know how to cut glass tile and didn't use spacers so it is not possible to fix the job. I do have some of the cobalt accent tile left over so I could use that behind the cooktop if it would coordinate with the new tile.

If you're happy that's all that counts but since you asked for opinions....I think that "textured" colors on the backsplash and on the countertop clash, regardless of whether the colors match. In other words, using two kinds of rock or something that looks like rock instead of one granite and the other solid makes the two play against each other instead of play together. I think you got the color correct though.

I tend to agree with fern4, plus I'm biased toward blue -- but it's a close call and I think both are very nice. I'm posting just to compliment! Your kitchen is gorgeous (with either tile) -- I love the cabinets, lighting, modern-but-warm look you have.

mom6, I think it's gorgeous. I started to do a mockup for you with photoshop but I'm finding it difficult. The pictures of the tile have shadows and/or highlights on them and when I try to copy them onto your backsplash I get a definite edge around them on the shadowed part. Sorry. But I do think it's going to be fabulous!

fern4, are you saying that (in your opinion) ANY stone tile with a granite or other stone countertop clashes? That the only option (in your opinion) for a granite counter would be a solid colored smooth tile or, say, stainless or something? You must not like many of the kitchens on this forum then. So many of us have stone backsplashes, whether they be marble, travertine, slate, or whatever. I'm not saying you're wrong to have your own opinion, everyone has a right to that. It's just an interesting theory and not one I've seen much of on this forum.

You could go either way horizontal or vertical, as your pulls go both ways- I think I prefer horizontal.

I LOVE the new tile - MUCH better than the glass tile, so imho, it is working out for the best, although I'm sure it is much more expensive than you ever wanted it to be!

If it were me, I would only use the new tile and none of the glass. You don't want too many materials, and your gorgeous granite is the real WOW for that kitchen, right?

The new tile will go much better with both your granite and the modern/fresh look of your kitchen. The old tile just doesn't fit your kitchen style.

Perfect choice of tile!! I hope you run it all the way up behind your vent. It will be stunning. For paint I would be looking for something close to the aqua glass tile in the middle of the sample. IMHO

I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I think it was a blessing in disguise that the first tile job didn't work out cause the new tile, imo, just looks so much better. It's awful you lost your deposit tho. While the first tile you started out with is nice, the new tile is more interesting and more modern-looking. Even laid horizontally, it still looks very modern, with each tile having that long and low look.

With Jodi's mock-up I prefer the vertical too. Though I guess if you order this tile, you can actually make that decision once it arrives and hold up a few sheets in real life.

I said horizontal-but after the mock up I too am changing to vertical!

I too think it was a good thing that the other tile didn't work...frustrating I know, but still, in the end, great given your search lead you to that fabulous tile you have now. The textures in that tile are so much better with the granite than the plain glass.
