The bedroom ones are "pole top panels" can i hang those with rings? JCPenny shows pole top panels hanging from rings and clips. However, I wouldn't do it, because I fear that there isn't enough structure at the top of the fabric to prevent it from sagging between the rings over time. I find that what you see in photos often doesn't work in real life. Tab top drapes look beautiful in catalog photos, curving in and out, but in real life they tend to droop. The rod we wanted to buy is one of those big carved wood things that aren't adjustable. I would also need to buy it in a 8' width. Window is 78.5". 8' is 96". so it would hang over the sides 8.75". Is this alright?? I know it will give the illusion of a wider window but if i tie back the curtains will it look funny? That actually isn't much of an overhang. I have an 84 inch wide window and the rod extends 1.5 feet beyond each side. As for the tie-back, it depends on how much fabric there is to pull back.

I like the idea of using drapes and thanks for the pic @valinsv and I will probably be stealing your bay window look with the candles etc. it looks great. Our living room is tiny and I have noticed that since I removed the vertical blinds, the room feels so much bigger than before, which is why I wanted to go with something mounted inside the window. Do you guys think that using the drapes will make the room feel small again, or will using the inside mount blinds, make it even worse? The drapes across the window will certainly make my life a whole lot easier. Someone had also mentioned traverse rods which I had never heard of. I have looked into them, but I am not sure if it is a solution I would like since it seems as though I will have to use the little hooks on my blinds. Has anyone ever used them, and if so any thoughts? Thanks for the tip on the handles, I will look for them the next time I am at Lowes. Thanks!

I have used SelectBlinds for my current house and my previous house. I LOVE THEM! They send you all the samples you could ever want and the quality has seemed to match the big names window treatments that my mom has in her house. Great customer service too. I contacted them many times about measurements and questions about the product itself. I had one wood valance get slightly damaged in shipping. They sent a replacement - no questions asked. I had the double cell blinds, double cell room darkening, wood blinds and one other room darkening (not a double cell). I wouldn't get the non-double cell again, but only bought them because they were on sale. I would buy all the others again in a heartbeat. If you're really interested I could do some digging to find the exact names of the blinds I have used. Let me know.

Well, from what I can see the curtains don't look "too patterned" and they seem to match with the carpet, but I can't really see them up close. To me they seem to match the fireplace tile. An odd number of windows does make it difficult to arrange curtains, although not impossible. Do you like maybe the look of blinds? I am always opening and closing window treatments to let in air and light, which is why I love mini-blinds, they are the easiest things to adjust constantly. Another option would be blinds made of some kind of light natural material like bamboo, but that can get pricey. That was always my dream, but I went with aluminum ones in my last house. There are also cellular shades, which I have in the house I live in now. Not sure, others can chime in, but with that long expanse of window, whatever you get will have to hold up to a lot of movement! I never seemed to be able to finesse the one pair of roman shades I had in the bathroom of my former house, but maybe that is just me. On the plus side, all those windows are great for letting in air and light into the room. I'm a fresh air and sunlight freak!
