I've finally managed to finish a couple of projects:

This is from my guild workshop a couple of weeks ago:

And this is my donation for Lynn's breast cancer auction:

(Lynn, if it's okay, I'll send the quilt to you after my July 2 guild meeting.)

I feel like it's been forever since I finished anything. Stay tuned...Shakespeare in the Park should be done this weekend! :)

Donna, great work, I love the stain glass, that binding must have been hard, are is it press on ? the breast cancer quilt is very nice. I know when you get stuff finished what a great feeling we get! YEA! Rene

Hey Dean... I remember!! Come home safe... nice to see you bed is doing well. Just think, it will take some of the wait out of those seedlings - maybe they will bloom for you next season! Is Silaom Rhinestone the light or dark pink one. I LOVE the dark one!! Don't worry about the kale, that is the one thing the BF had success with in the FRONT yard, and he won't let me take it out (even if it IS going to seed).

Hi Barb, I have many antiques and the best thing to do is leave on the original stain and finish, unless the item is damaged. This wash stand and the antique chess table, that I posted a few months back, are the only pieces I restored. The chess table had severe water damage and cigarette burns. This wash stand was very dark and murky and it just didn't fit in with our other stuff. That's why I painted it. Then I decided to strip it (using a sander) and refinishing it to better match our bedroom. I can tell you how to refinish and restore furniture, however, I rather not give advise on antiques... I'll leave that to the professionals. I'd be happy to tell you how to finish other furniture though, as we build a lot of furniture and I do most of the finishing. I never use gel stains, because they are not penetrating and compromise the beauty of the wood. I rather sand a piece down to the raw wood and start over. Joann. Check out the antique forum on GW.

Hey luvs~ I've got a sick kid, but I did manage to start another fan blade over the weekend and prep work for one of those little cow patterns. Maybe I'll get to work on it today some. DM has me working on a project with her. My DB is getting married Fri and they wanted baby pics of him to put on a vid for the reception which is the next week. So I got volunteered to go thru all the boxes of pics to find his and get them all in order and ready for them. Sometimes being the only girl is not all it's cracked up to be. ha And being the oldest makes me 2nd mom to my 3 younger brothers. Sounds like you are keeping busy. Can't wait to see your new projects. I'm checking in as often as I can. I hope everyone else is getting to paint too. ~Anj

Donna, they're both beautiful! I'm glad to see some green in the quilt you made for Lynn's guild auction. I'm working on mine now and emailed her to make sure a little green was acceptable and it is. Whew. I love that plaid border!

2. Take a look at Poetry Collection by Moda. Your pink and green one reminded me of this quilt I saw at an LQS
this week that I would love to make.

3. I'd like to know more about Lynn's breast cancer auction. I've been looking at the ones on EBay and haven't seen anything I like to bid on.

Beautiful quilts, both of them. Great job.

I can't wait for pictures of Shakespear in the Park! That quilt is on my to do list, and I'd sure like to get it done this year.

Both of them are beautiful.

The first one immediately reminded me of those plastic/metal things my brothers and I used to make when we were kids, by putting them in the oven. I have no idea what they're called. Only your quilt is much more elegant.

I LOVE the color combination for the breast cancer quilt! The border ties it together really nicely.

Thanks for all the nice comments! The stained glass one was done in a workshop with Karen Kay Buckley. The "leading" is that fusible bias tape (expensive stuff!). You trace the design on the background fabric then glue the colored pieces in place with water soluble glue stick. Then you fuse the bias tape in place and sew it down with a twin needle. Before you sew you layer the backing, batting & top, so it's QAYG.

The fabrics in the other quilt were one of those pre-packaged fat quarter bundles that I got at Hancock's, so that's why they are so well coordinated! :)

No, Kathi, it's just layered up from the background - background, colored fabric, fuse bias tape around the edges, sew it down! It was really pretty easy - I finished it in 2 days.

They're both beautiful!! I love stained glass quilts, and would love to learn how to make them someday. The breast cancer quilt is also great - the border really ties it all together, and I really like that block set on point. Nicely done on both accounts!
